Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Clean mass air flow sensor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean damaged it, i sourced a new bosch maf sensor' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Thinking the cleaning damaged it, I sourced a new Bosch MAF sensor.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been monitoring my 996 3.6 320bhp 2002 model. All posts on the Net refer as a correct MAF value the 16kg/h or nearby.
My car had 14.4 kg/h.
After I cleaned the MAF, it showed 11kg/h.
Thinking the cleaning damaged it, I sourced a new Bosch MAF sensor. Again 11kg/h.
Today's pic after new MAF sensor installation.
Is this correct?
Why did you reset your adaption values? Your RKAT 1 &2 are at 0.00 meaning they have just been reset and have not adapted..... Were you chasing a fault code?
Yes the MAF value is low indicating an un-metered air leak ( vacuum leak) ...This would also cause the RKAT adaption to be very high...
I would suggest a very cautious smoke test of the intake and crankcase for leaks as well as the AOS system..
I did not intentionally reset any adaptations. pic was taken after car was switched off. in a previous pic they are at 1.05% for bank 1 and 1.26% for bank 2.
Idle is normal and no CEL codes. Any unmetered air leak, wouldnt it increase the revs?
If my AOS is getting faulty, will I see some oil residue after my MAF and before my throttle body?
this is a more representative pic:
hello, I am coming back to this. we performed a smoke test today. no smoke came out of nowhere. the system was full of smoke, it even came out of the oil filler cap when we opened it. so what might be the case of the low maf value of 11kg/h if there is no visible leak or cel???
Even new Bosch MAF sensors have been bad right out of the box. Has to do with manufacturing nowadays. Might want to consider getting a new Porsche MAF sensor from a reputable Porsche dealer (AutoAtlanta, Suncoast...). Our cars are very sensitive to the MAF sensor. Yeah, I know it's big bucks, but the entire engine depends on that reading.
coming back to this. I replaced the Bosch MAF sensor with an NTK one. Part number 93006. one third of the Bosch's price. Car works fine, the NTK is a perfect match for the 3.6 engine. No CELs.

Hope it helps someone.
I am now showing 15.5kg/h. smoke tested and simply fixed a small leak, but with the previous MAF sensor, 11kgh went to 12.5... thats why I switched to NTK (made in the UK).
