Every funnel I've tried fits...poorly. With quart bottles you can kind just tip them in but I find the oil is a lot cheaper in 5 quart jugs and trying that makes a mess. In the past I've made my own 'funnel' out of a used quart bottle or milk jug but I usually make a mess with that too...
Anyone found a magical funnel that fits well?
I pour 1 qt into an empty qt bottle and put that into the engine. The jug pours easier with less mess sans the qt.
I've never really had a problem? I use this funnel if it helps:

Hmmm maybe that one would work better. The problem I have with my funnels is that you have to angle them in there, so the funnel sides end up being either nearly horizontal or I end up having to hold the funnel in place with one hand, kind of hovering above the opening, and pour oil with the other.
Hmm, I don't recall having an issue. I think I just carefully pour in from the 5-qt jug? I don't recall using a funnel, and my 68-year-old hands are not that steady. I dunno.
I lay a garbage bag over the area, poke a hole through it, and put the funnel through the hole just to be safe in case an earthquake or something starts just as I'm pouring
I know.....Have to watch out for those PA earthquakes
I just pour, no funnel, put a towel under it just in case.
I use a funnel with a very long neck and a cutaway-style spout. It's probably 12" overall. As gnarfie says, it is almost horizontal, but with the cutaway spout I can pour the oil in from above it. Works very well, but you have to go a bit slowly.
And with my Sand Beige carpet, I cover it heavily with plastic and towels to catch any drips or spills. No stains yet after 5 years!
Ditto, and I use that same funnel!
I use a funnel and go very carefully. It is kind of counter productive to put the oil and coolant receptacles in a rugged area of the vehicle!! With the mid engine design I guess this is what had to be done.
In addition to the above, be sure to POUR SLOWLY!
First time I changed the oil, I poured the oil in too fast. It backed up and made a mess.
