Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Today I went for a 100 mile drive and never once put the car in 5th or 6th gear. I find this to often be the case. The roads here are so endlessly twisty I can't get anywhere near enough speed for those upper gears. So my question, is this bad or harmful to the transmission to virtually never use those top two gears? Otherwise I typically drive well above 3000 rpm most of the time, Thanks to all, and Happy Fathers Day

POST 2Original post

No. Those two gears will have nearly new sinchros and will shift very smoothly though. No damage at all.

POST 3Original post

I have noticed some on most of the track videos the drivers rarely get out of third gear

POST 6Original post

I shift into fifth at about 150 km/h lol and shift into six if I'm cruising at that speed or higher
