Didn't get a chance to clean my throttle body this week due to the rain so would love to get that done this bank holiday...think the other half might have something to say about that though!

Well, I've replaced number 5, had it up to temp and kept it at 3k for 60 seconds, no misfires and it seems to be fine, no error codes.

It wasnt misfiring but I was advised these needed replacing...do you or dont you???

Just started it and left it running for 5 minutes at 3k revs, brought up a flashing check engine light.

Drove the car yesterday for 6-7 miles, all perfect. Started this morning with a misfire, misfired 3 miles to work but no engine lights etc and no code when checked. Just started it and left it running for 5 minutes at 3k revs, brought up a flashing check engine light.
Checked codes, now reading pending codes of P0300, P0303, P0305 so basically pending cat damaging misfires on 3 & 5.
Any ideas why 2 should be playing up, is it just because they are opposing cylinders? Is one more likely than the other?
I have 1 x spare coilpack for this scenario, so if this weather dries up a bit I'll get underneath and change that on 1 bank and see if it sorts it out. First bit of rain and it starts playing up! (i was in Turkey 2 weeks ago so missed that bit!)

They are relatively low cost @ circa £30 but I'd guess this is your problem mate. Is it something you are happy to DIY?
With this amount of standing water and torrential downpours its going to get in if it can.
I don't know why I was thinking 3 & 5 are opposing?? Well, I've replaced number 5, had it up to temp and kept it at 3k for 60 seconds, no misfires and it seems to be fine, no error codes. I'll drive it to Tesco's tonight and see it it does it again on number 3! I'll drop into Mid-Sussex on the way and pick up a spare coilpack, I can't stress enough how important it is to keep one on board, this is the second time it has got me out of trouble by having a spare.
Having a good look at the coils they have the tiniest hairline cracks around the main top part, almost invisible until looking through a 30x scope and then you can see that moisture & spark is obviously getting to each other causing the misfire. Porsche charge £40 each for Beru's, Parr charged £30 for Beru's, so looks like they'll be my next port of call for the remaining 3 that I haven't changed yet, GSF don't name the brand that they sell but sell theirs at about £24 + vat so Parr being local is my best deal I believe.
And there was me thinking something wasn't quite right last week, just thought it was a sticky butterfly not a coil on the way out.
