Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Initally I'd just get a short shifter fitted along with geometry alignment both then as others have said get used to the car and get any other wrinkles ironed out before getting on the slippy slope of modification;-)

So guys, what would you change, starting with the cheapest?...

Usually I research my cars extensively but this was a 'wild card' impulse buy after a test drive.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, looks like I should have my 2002 996TT 6spd early next week and can't wait! Usually I research my cars extensively but this was a 'wild card' impulse buy after a test drive. Absolutely blew me away
So, let's say the car is standard. With any car, no matter how good when new, there are always some desireable and/or must have mods to be had after 10 years. Some are just more modern updates of existing parts, some just sexy upgrades.
So guys, what would you change, starting with the cheapest?...

Hi and well done on your new purchase,
JMO but I would live with it for a while and see how you get on before changing/ upgrading anything
Theirs plenty of time to get modding..........
Agreed.... do nothing for at least a few months and after that assess for yourself what you would like to improve
I bought one two months ago and to be fair had visions of this and that etc. Personal opinion now is to leave it be, its pretty damn good as it is.
Only thing I have done is what I would call 'prevention' work such as paintshield and mesh in the grille vents. Doesnt make it look better or go better, but should keep it as it is for a long time. TO me they are the sensible updates before bling and power.
Welcome to the forum!
Try to get yourself a copy of the 996TT hardback brochure. If not contact Porsche GB for a pdf copy instead with also the Tequipment brochure too. In the latter, there are plenty of suggestions for modding a 996TT whilst in the brochure, you have the choice of optional extras which might enhance your ownership experience. Also try eBay for the hard copies - they usually sell at about £10 a throw,

Many thanks guys.
Maxie, I've already ordered a 2003 brochure from eBay but thanks for the PDF anyway GT4 (your new car pic is much better btw :thumb: ).
SMJ996c, I think it's already got a short shifter but may look into the geometry after a few months.
Prevention work is definately something I'd be looking at in the early stages rather than performance mods etc. I just didnt want for something to go pop only to find out I could have replaced something with a £10 mod. £10! Not on a supercar! I hear you shout... but you know what I mean.
Anyway, any advice is greatly appreciated :thumb:
Hi habanero. IMHO dont leave the geometry check if it hasn't had one done for a while as the first time you will know it's out is when you notice the tyres wearing unevenly and they need replacing. I speak from experience.
Thanks.
+1 to geometry check. The 911 has a complex suspension set-up and very specific alignment requirements.
You'll have two different cars before and after.
