Does anyone know how the drive train power loss of a PDK compares with the 6 speed manual? I would expect the manual to lose about 15% but I have heard all kinds of estimates for the PDK that run as high as 25%. Are there any published reports out there?

I can only speak relative to the 981 platform but there is no such thing as a generic drivetrain % loss. The transmission will consume a fixed amount of power at any given revs in a particular gear. This does not change as engine power increases. So a low power engine would show a higher transmission loss percentage than a high power engine. I have measured the transmission loss on my 981 Boxster S PDK . And the same numbers were also measured on a 987.2 Cayman R PDK . At 2,000 revs its 15.2 HP At 3,000 revs its 23.5 HP At 4,000 revs its 32.1 HP At 5,000 revs its 41.3 HP At 6,000 revs its 51.3 HP At 7,000 revs its 63.3 HP At 6700 revs where a 981 Boxster both S and base develop max power its. 59.8 HP. So Boxster 3.4 PDK is 315 HP crank and loss of 59.8 = 18.9% loss So Boxster 2.7 PDK is 265 HP crank and loss of 59.8 = 22.6% loss I suspect that there is little difference if any with the 6MT compared to the PDK . But I do not have empirical evidence as I do with the PDK . :cheers:

We typically see drivetrain losses in the single digits.. PDK and manual are going to have similar losses.
