Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Each actual size of snow sock they make is recommended for a range of different tyre sizes - broadly speaking ranging from smaller diameter but wider, to larger diameter but narrower.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend range of different tyre sizes - broadly speaking ranging' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend range of different tyre sizes - broadly speaking ranging' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I know winter tyres would be a better option but I don't want to stump out changing every season and don't have space to store seperate wheels and tyres.

I bought some in case of emergency last year as I was using my old 964 C2 for a few months over winter.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know winter is a long way away but thought I would pose a question to see if anyone has experience of fitting snow sock snow chain alternatives to a Porsche. I have a carrera 4 as my daily driver. Last winter on summer tyres generally very good even in the heavy snow that we had. However a couple of days I had trouble getting up some ungritted icy, snowy hilly roads /narrow drives to see patients. I know winter tyres would be a better option but I don't want to stump out changing every season and don't have space to store seperate wheels and tyres. Looking at autosock sites and other alternatives I can find no one that makes snow socks to fit 285/30x18 rear tyres. They do make them in the front size 225/40x18. I figured that being a 4 it would put up to 40% power to the front if back lost traction and that with some steering and better grip for braking would work in those very low traction stituations. Also £60 for a front set of snow socks a whole lot cheaper than a set of winter rims and tyres. What do people think. Would it work?
I bought some in case of emergency last year as I was using my old 964 C2 for a few months over winter. I fitted them before the snow came - was really straight forward procedure. Would have thought the should be fitted to the main driven wheels though ie. Rears on a C4.
Never used them in the snow and fortunately had my Range Rover back in time for the heavy dump in Jan... That was great fun - especially before the snow plies had been out early morning!
Last winter I had a good look at their size chart. Each actual size of snow sock they make is recommended for a range of different tyre sizes - broadly speaking ranging from smaller diameter but wider, to larger diameter but narrower. Not surprising really when you think about it.
So the fact that our (slightly unusual) tyre sizes are not listed doesn't necessarily mean they don't have a size that would fit. You've just got to make an educated guess. About that point in my thought process the snow stopped and I lost interest!
There's probably some mathematical way to work out the relationship and predict the right size to buy but it needs someone cleverer than me (GT4 comes to mind!)
James what size did you buy and for what tyres?
