Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have read that the speedometer signal comes from a sensor on the right rear hub. I found the ABS sensor; it appears identical to the right front. Any thoughts on finding the signal output / wire? I want to tap that signal. Does the speedometer use the ABS signal? Any thoughts on the location of the wire that feeds ths speedometer (without pulling the dash)? Is the ABS located near the master cylinder? Thanks

POST 2Original post

The dash might not be fed a signal via a wire but a message over the comfort bus (CAN bus) from the engine controller which can deliver upon request vehicle speed in kph. Or the drivetrain controller or even the ABS controller might provide a speed message periodically that the dashboard controller receives and uses to display speed. In some cars there is a VSS signal at a pin at the OBD connector. I don't have the wiring diagrams handy though to see if this is the case for the Boxster and Cayman. Sincerely, Rockster.
