Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm having an issue with my alarm and/or key. My car is locking and unlocking in random when I get close to the car. My key remote lock and unlock work, but it keeps flashing on the remote as well as the door lock red light in the inside of the car and blinking super fast. The key remote trunk and hood is not working on the key remote.
I have replaced the battery with a new remote battery but still no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Leave that key at another location and try using your 2nd key. That way you'll see if it's the key or the car. (Make sure this 1st key is out of range, or remove its battery.)
Dan,
Thank you..... Unfortunately I do not have a 2nd key. When I walk to the car it unlocks and when I walk away it locks. But the remote will not open the rear hatch or the frunk. Not sure what else to do.
The very first thing you should do is get a second key! Not sure what happens if the first stops working completely or heaven forbid, you should lose it. Yikes!
Don't know cost, fortunately I guess. My car came with 2 keys and I still have them. Lose the last key or have it fail completely as it seems to want to do and you'll spend a lot more than $600 getting back on the road. Key (s) plus a tow and service charges will surely be added. Plus the major inconvenience. Call the closest dealer and price it. Good luck.
It does sound like some of the key functions are faulty, but it's hard to be sure it's not the car. You can try cleaning the switch contacts and using the key with the side plates and battery cover off. If that doesn't work you may have to have the dealer fix it. The car should still be under warranty, why not just have the dealer fix it.
Keys are expensive and can only be mated to the car by an authorized dealer. Replacing a 430 Scud key cost me $1K so your $600 is probably not too far off. However, if you lose the only key, it'll be many thousands of $$ to replace the whole module.
"The car should still be under warranty, why not just have the dealer fix it."
How is a 2007 still under warranty? I'd sure love to know because that would mean my 2008 would also be. Unfortuneately
Porsche
doesn't agree. Normal warranty in the US is 4 years or 50,000 miles. His car is 7 years old.
Thanks for all the responses. Just weird the remote seems to work normal. I walk up to the car it open and I walk away it locks, but its weird how the key continues to flash about 30seconds after it locks. The annoying thing is that it does not open the frunk or the hatch. Is this a feature, because my old S430 Mercedes use to do this lock and unlock when I got near to the car. I really would like to use the remote to open the trunk and hatch.
Any other ideas? How do I reset the Remote Key?
"I walk up to the car it open and I walk away it locks, but its weird how the key continues to flash about 30seconds after it locks."
If you are suggesting that this happens without you pushing the lock button on your key fob then something is very wrong with it. To my knowledge, a feature that automatically locks or unlocks the car without pushing the key fob button doesn't exist. I may be wrong but if it does exist, this is the first I've ever heard about it. The car will automatically lock after a key fob unlock it a door isn't opened for 30 or so seconds but not if one is. Then it takes another button push. Can you perhaps explain what is actually happening better? You just may have more problems than you know.
Ok, I'm in the house and my car is parked outside. When I leave my house my keys are in my pocket or I'm holding them. When I walk upto the car about 5 feet away the doors unlock with out pushing any buttons. I open the door than close it or even after a drive, as soon as I step out and walk away from the car it locks without pushing anything. I can also push the button to lock and unlock, but my frunk or hatch will not open when pushing the buttons. A few days ago I dropped my keys from about 10 feet and this started to happen. I did replace the battery and nothing seems to be physically broken.
How may I reset the key?
Thanks for all the help!
Sounds like you have keyless entry!
Seriously, I would disassemble the fob completely, inspect carefully, ensure button contacts are clean. That's all I can think of.

. Keys are about $500 - 600 from dealer. it is about $130 for reprogramming only. You can get the fob and key blank from
Pelican Parts
and maybe save some money plus you will get a new black body fob which is much improved over the gray body. If you are PCA you might also save 10% at both/either/or Pelican and dealer.
The gray body is very sensitive to any contact including whatever goes on in your pants or jacket pocket. It was (is) so bad that I would hold my keys out of my pocket until I got a long distance away. I agree you need a second key and P can make the new key your Primary. I needed a 2nd key and it works great.
PS - an '07 can still be CPO and be under warranty.
Interesting operation. I have a 2008
Cayman
and my "keyless remote" REQUIRES that I push the lock button to either lock or unlock the car. I can walk up to the car and wait all day and it won't unlock on it's own. Also, in checking the option configuration info I can't find anywhere that gives the option you seem to have. I'd sure love to hear from others who have your option because it could be an upgrade I'd like to have, with everything else working of course. Please keep us posted.
Majic: I've done some more research on your problem and I have to tell you I think your key fob is broken, probably from your dropping it the 10 feet you mentioned. The reaction to you approaching your car and having it unlock and then lock when you walk away without pushing the button seems to indicate that the buttons are malfunctioning. This is not normal. "Proximity Key" or as
Porsche
calls it "Entry and Drive" was NOT an available option in 2007. And even on new cars, it doesn't work the way you describe your's does. At least that's what my research turned up. And there's also no "reset" option that I'm aware of. Your only solution in my opinion again, is a trip to the dealer. If I'm wrong in my conclusions then someone a lot smarter will need to enlighten me. Keep us posted:cheers:
I think Budman has it right. You might try carefully disassembling the key and seeing if there's anything you can repair. It sounds like the lock/unlock is constantly being pushed which overrides the trunk/frunk. Dealer amy be your only real option. It may be best to do that before total failure which can be very expensive.
Budman thank you so much for the research! I would also like to thank everyone else here that has helped you guys are great. If I find a solution I will let you all know. On the bay there is someone selling new buttons that can be soldered on. Does anyone on here have the schematics for the key?
Guy's it is fixed! The first button itself seemed to have been stuck even though when I would push I still heard and felt a click. So I went ahead and had the courage to remove the the top of the first button on the board to see the inside of the switch. I took the inside of the switch completely apart, but did not unsolder the actual switch off the board. I rebuilt the switch and I did not place the upper portion of the switch the rubber button and metal rubber cover holder, instead I got black enamel paint and dabbed the paint on the inside edge of the switch to hold the flat metal pieces in the switch itself to make it stay in place and still movable when pushed and once it dried I then put the cover of the keys all back together and it all works like a charm. I know, but it now Works as intended!!!!
No, thank you guys without you guys I would not have been able to do it. I went ahead and ordered the new micro switch buttons that I will be soldering to the board. If you guys are interested I will go ahead and place some pics when I'm replacing. All still works good but just want the complete new button installed.
