Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
So basically if you have a cable that hasn't been updated it is possible in theory to have it used more than 3 vehicles.
Leading evidence: 'Use more than 3 vehicles' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use more than 3 vehicles' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Gentlemen,
Does anyone have an older version of durametric bundled with their enthusiast cable?
Perhaps anything earlier than 5.1.4. (the one found on your durametric cable cd)
I am looking specifically for versions 5.0.x.x.
Please pm me.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry but you're probably not going to have much luck. At least my cable didn't even come with a CD. Just instructions on where to download.
If something isn't working in the current version email their tech support. I've found them to be very responsive.
But
the bootleg cables off ebay did come w/CD with a very old version. Newer versions from Durametric won't work with the cheap Chinese knock-offs. Software versions after v6.x require Ver 2 of the cable.
Look are the version history and you'll see the improvements and bug fixes since Mar 2008. Not sure why you'd go there. It looks like you can still download v5.1.3. Note: they don't even list a v5.1.4

I bought a softronic plenum/throttlebody/software package used, but never installed, from a member. How do I know which version of the cable I have?
Thanks.
You can't tell until you try to install the durametric software on to your computer.
But if you could upload the durametric installation file for me from the CD that would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for the software bundled with the early softtronic plenum kits.
I am not looking for the ones bundled with the cheap chinese knock-off cables.
The latest version 5 on the site installs 5.1.4 even though it is not listed.
I always thought it was included with the cable.
The software for Softronic plenum comes from Softronic. They have a program to do the flash with a file coded to your car which you receive after you download your car and send the file to them. You'll need to call them. Durametric isn't involved besides supplying the cable. You want the latest flash for SRP not the original. Scott improved it.
It's not part of the Durametric CD even if you bought the full up pro kit from Durametric with all of the cables and case.
Not exactly what I am looking for since I am looking for versions 5.0.x.x.
Or even version 4.
But I could give it a try. Sent you a pm.
Other members with any luck, please advise.
If possible I would like to try that one too.
Because I have heard that the previous (older) versions do not lock the cable to 3 vins only. I wish to try the different builds of durametric with a second hand cable that does not have it's firmware updated to lock only 3 vins.
In version 5.0.6 listed on the version history.
So basically if you have a cable that hasn't been updated it is possible in theory to have it used more than 3 vehicles.
Sorry, but when I purchased it (as part of a Softronic bundle) they had already locked it to three VIN numbers.
Have you tried contacting Durametric directly?
Then perhaps, I need a version older than 5.1.x.x.
I dobut durametric would help me. I'm sure they removed the older versions off their site to download for s reason.
Durametric doesn't keep or supply old versions. I know because I asked one time when they broke a feature in version 6.x which I knew had work in an earlier version. Just had to wait for them to fix it. Probably this is to prevent support calls for an issue in an old version that has currently been fixed. My issue being an exception.
But go ahead and ask. They're pleasant to work with.
So the OP is looking for an essentially scammed copy of Durametric so he can violate the 3 car rule?
And the suggestion is to call Durametric to ask them for assistance in scamming them?
And we're assisting?
Am I misunderstanding the thread?
Nice!
No we aren't assisting, at least I'm not. If the OP bought himself a cable that was already used up so to speak, then that's his fault for buying that cable without due diligence. Maybe he could pay a fee to Durametric or Softronic and get the ability to program just his car and his car only as opposed to having to buy a whole new package, but then again Durametric is in business to make money so they may want full retail if the OP is simply trying to get around the copy protection / limitations set up in the software/hardware.
As far as I can remember...last 5 - 8 yrs, the enthusiast version is always limited to 3 VINs. So, unless you're talking about s/w from say before 2004,... but then again, software before 2004 prob won't work with the 987's.
So anyone could help me out on this? Or am I outta luck? I really don't want to contact durametric for this cause I've tried before and they will not give out the older version of the software.
I have an 06' 987 so the older sofware is all I need. I just want to see the
DME
readings.
Question: Can I add VINs to my Enthusiast cable?
Answer: No. The Enthusiast kits support only three VINs. If more VINs are needed, all Enthusiast kits can be upgraded to Professional for only the difference in price plus shipping.
Looks like you can scan an unlimited number of VINs for $388 dollars.
Has anyone of you ever tried more than 3 VINs with the enthusiast version?
I am using mine now with the 5th VIN and it still works fine, latest 6.x SW installed. At least it works to read and clear trouble codes on 996 models turbo and
GT3
- not sure any other function is now disabled?
