Hello! I just purchased a 2010
Cayman
from a private seller and have a quick question. He said he never tried pairing his phone to the car via Bluetooth and I am having trouble getting my phone set up. The option sheet the seller included with the car makes me think this should be possible (relevant lines below):
Bluetooth Interface for Mobile (Option 619)
Sport Chrono Pkg W/Out PCM (Option 639)
I'd love to pair my phone to work with the car for hands free calls. However, when I click the 'Phone' button on the radio, it simply states 'Telephone not available' and there are not any softkey options to turn on Bluetooth, etc. I have read the manual a couple of times but I seem to be stumped. Does anyone know what I'm missing?
Have you tried on your phone to manually try and pair it? When I did mine it said the same thing. I have an i-Phone. I went into bluetooth on the phone and just had the phone search and it grabbed it. Put in the code and have had no issues.
Yes, I have tried manually pairing it, both by making my phone discoverable via Bluetooth and searching for Bluetooth devices with the phone. Still no joy.
For what it's worth, here's what my 'phone' screen looks like:
Solved! Got the car back from the dealer today (warranty is up in 2 days and I had a couple of things I wanted them to look at). Word from them is that the radio was somehow programmed to the wrong country. A software fix got everything working as it should be and solved another problem. My rear speakers weren't working (i.e. if you set the fader to rear, no audio would be heard). With the update, the fader option has been removed as the base audio system doesn't have rear speakers! Problem solved!
Unsolved! The thing worked brilliantly all day yesterday after picking it up from the dealer, but today when I got in the car, the same 'Telephone Unavailable' message appeared, and the fader option is back again!
Anyone know why this could be happening? Waiting on a call back from the dealer now. A bit nervous since the warranty ends tomorrow. No other electric issues to speak of, the clock hasn't reset so I know there hasn't been some electrical event where the car lost 12V power...
I have a 2012
Cayman
and a Android phone... I had a problem with the Bluetooth because it didn't recognize my phone numbers because they had hyphens in them. I had to go back and manually change every number from [phone removed] to 7274666069 without the hyphens.
Update - Took it back to the dealer today and my radio has an identity crisis. It thinks it is a 997 with the premium stereo, in Britain.
Dealer was able to reset the radio again but they have a new unit on order as it is a recurring problem. Great service so far!
I don;t know hoiw those settings are maintained but it sounds like some type of EPROM is losing data and reverting to its default programming. I suspect the new unit will fix it and I'm glad you got it in under the warranty expiration!
