I finally broke down and purchased a Very Small laptop called -MINI.
Rightfully so in the naming as its only 6.5 by 10 inches and under $200.00 !!
I purchase this so I could turn off my service reminders as the dealer was charging me $60.00 to do this as well as Flashing my car from time to time and of course deleting my over revs.
The durametric software has a plethora of jobs/functions at it disposal but for my first task I just wanted that annoying Service needed light that comes on everytime I power my car on.
I have the SRP and Flash so the Durametric software was (Free) and the optional Softronic USB to OBD Cable was delivered as an option from Softronic.
There is a Video on the Durametric site that gives you step by instructions and I followed them and turning off the service reminder took less the 5 minutes total time to boot up the MINI -Plug in the cable and turn the light off WOW!!! $60.00 to do this? I highly reccomend doing this yourself if you do your own service .Thanks

Where did you buy that Mini and what brand is it? I'm an Apple person but have been tempted by the "off brand software's" Minis.
Hey Peter,
+1 on brand info and any preloaded software. Might have to pick me one up for just the same reason as you. Would be easy to use with my Durametric too!
THANKS!
That's a nice laptop. My friend has it and i've tried it before. It's made by HP
Santa Fe
Its the new Dell Mini through Verizon Wireless .
Comes Pre loaded with windows XP -Webcam -USB- tons of Wi -Fi usage and 5 Gigs of air card per month for $199.00 after $50.00 rebate.
Depending on the company you work for determins the montly
mine is $30.00 a month added to my cell phone bill.
I keep it with me all the time so if I am out and about (Like I am Now) at starbucks I can always go online. It also has a phone # assigned to it so you can send and recieve Text. How cool is that .
fits under the passenger seat or wherever so you can hide it pretty good.
The web cam is phenominal!!
Re: Santa Fe
FYI Watch out for theives. I have been told they now have a device that detects the batteries in equipment like laptops; When they find the signal they break into the car.
They are getting more sofisticated. I also saw this info in the local paper, but that does not make it authentic.
If it can use the durametric software does this mean that it can also be used to flash the car as well?
steeevo
YES!!! Thats also what I am using it for .
When I go to the Dealer for service I will Unflash
I am going to remove my over revs this week as well and I will post my results
Re: steeevo
My mini is also tethered via bluetooth NIC to my Verizon phone. No additional air card or monthly charge.
I see different posts on this website concerned with deleting their over revs, may I ask why the concern?
On the other hand, (excuse my ignorance) how do you have your CS over rev when the engine is controlled/protected and you immediately feel it if you fail to shift to hire gear in time?
When you over rev and hit the rev limiter, even though the limiter is theoreticlly protecting your engine...it is still an over rev. And dont forget the money shift.....down shifting at too high RPMs will not be governed by the rev limiter and when that happens....the engine WILL NOT be protected.
Most people wanting to clear over-revs are doing so to prevent the over-revs from being seen by Porsche at the time of service or any issue which might bring the warranty into discussion.
