I have an
06 Cayman S
, I believe it has the base radio - no navigation or DVD or anything like that, just the radio and CD player. The radio is dead. The fuse box diagram as far as I can tell does not have a spot specificatlly for the radio although there are spots for the amp, CD changer and others.
I found one blown 25 amp fuse and replaced it, but it didn't solve the problem, the radio is still dead. Everything else electrical in the car appears to work.
Can someone tell me:
Is there someway I can verify that the radio is fried? Are there any other fuses or circuit breakers other than the fuse block near the driver's seat that I can check? How do I trouble-shoot the problem?
Any ideas what the dealer is going to charge to replace it?
Is it possible to replace it myself? Where can I obtain the manual showing how to dismantle the dash and pull the radio out?
I assume I can just go to the dealership and order a radio, any idea what it will cost by itself?
Thanks a bunch,
Craig
Is your car is no longer under warranty? I would make a trip to the dealer to see if they can find out what happened? A blown fuse is not a problem, it is a symptom of something else going wrong.
Here is a

to the radio installation in the articles section.
If it comes down to replacing the radio I would keep an eye out in the classifieds here and on ebay. There are enough people replacing radios with factory PCM and aftermarket that you can usually find an OK deal.
As cheerIO points out this should be covered by warranty unless you have modified the electronics in some way that might have caused a problem. You also might want to take a look at these if you have not (although your issue seems different):

You should be able to pick one up on ebay for around $100. I'd probably test the harness before I went that route.
my radio also died. it was replaced by the dealer under warranty. no problems since.
I just wanted to update everyone on this issue..... I took the car to the dealership and the were able to quickly diagnose the problem as a blown fuse and replaced it. This particular fuse is located within the radio itself, not in the fuse block, so it requires removal of the radio.
Glad you solved it..
Mine was toast too not long ago...
Pulled the two bottom right fuses (neither said "radio" in the diagram etc, but were obviously related... amp, or something like that)..
anyway, both of those fuses were "OK", but the radio did come one
next
time I powered it up.
hope this might help someone in the future.

Also had the same issue.
The
Bose
radio system would not function. The word "
Porsche
" would appear, but the stereo system did not turn on. Pulled out and re inserted fuses D9 and D10, which reset the computer, and the stereo system worked.
