Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The car's had its IMS replaced, new coffin arms, air con rads, recent service with brakes and suspension overhauled - I'm hoping it'll give me some reliability for a while to come!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, after years of chickening out and a search that has lasted a couple of months I've finally put a deposit down on a 996 in pretty much the perfect spec for me, it's a 2001 black C4 S tiptronic with xenons, cruise, elec/heated seats and updated Bluetooth stereo with SatNav, and I'm over the moon!
The car's had its IMS replaced, new coffin arms, air con rads, recent service with brakes and suspension overhauled - I'm hoping it'll give me some reliability for a while to come! (Fingers crossed!)
Unfortunately it's about a 6hr drive each way for me to collect it so I need to work out the logistics of that, but to be honest a long journey on day one of ownership having longed to own a 911 since I was a kid is no hardship! I think I'll be flying up to collect it and picking a nice route back
One of the first things I'm going to do is remove the private plate on it, it's three letters- gap - 9111 , I'm not into that type of thing so has anyone got any idea what it'd be worth? Not much I'm guessing!
Thanks all! And yeah better later than never, although my dithering has cost me thousands as they've shot up in value over the last few years!
I had the option of buying this one with 78k miles and a full service history, loads of receipts for work like the IMS etc etc, or a mint 22k mile earlier model with pretty much no extras, my feeling was that a 1999 car on 22k miles could well be a nightmare as it's been a garage queen all it's life, that made me nervous! So I've gone for the newer, better specced and higher mileage option for a few grand less, I'm hoping I made the right call.
very nice.
First road trip is the best! take a CD for the journey.
Mine had a unwanted plate, I looked on the plate listing sites, then listed it at half their "valuation"
After 3 months it sold.
I left mine on the car whilst selling so not to incur fees. If you do that be sure to tell your
insurance
company when you buy the insurance that the plate is coming off as otherwise they will sting you an admin fee when it does.
Yesterday was a good day! I picked the car up in Yorkshire and drove it back to Cornwall and it was faultless, the service history is great and the car feels tight and on point, I'm really chuffed! :thumb:
I traded up my 1998 Carrera a fortnight ago to a 2003 C4S. The only downside was that I live in Suffolk and the car was located in Stirling, around a 900 mile round trip, but what a great drive with both vehicles !
