All Dension Gateway products use the 5V charger output, that's why they are not compatible with 3G iPods.

I have been able to use my iphone with my gw500, but I must click the button saying to accept the unknown attachment which disabled the telephone portion.

It has to do with the fact that a lot of 3rd party devices use the pins of the Firewire iPod interface for charging.

I just read on the Apple Discussion group that if you use an iPod charger putting out 10 Volts it will eventually damage your iPhone and it Will Not be covered by Apple. You need a charger output 5V and Amp 1.0. Does anyone know what the Dension GW500 charger output is? Does the charger even work with the iPhone? thanks, Gil

All Dension Gateway products use the 5V charger output, that's why they are not compatible with 3G iPods. (Older iPods were charged with 12V, a different dock connector pin should be used for that). It's an other issue that the charging from GW is not accepted by the iPhone currently. There is something with the communication between GW and iPhone. We can expect a SW correction for that soon.

It has to do with the fact that a lot of 3rd party devices use the pins of the Firewire iPod interface for charging. Since Apple completely dropped FireWire support on the latest generation, those pins are no longer used.

My 3G definitely charges off the GW500. No need to press a specific button on the warranty message.
