I'm told yes you can so I just bought one for my car. I will be installing it in the next two weeks. I also am buying the new airbag for it. I have been told by several porsche dismatlers that 991 997 PDK wheels will work as well. This will require reprograming by a porsche shop after installing. This will give you more color style options on which wheels to search for the best pricing / available / colors etc.

I just found a very good artical on this subject here. Tiptronic Paddle-Shift Steering Wheel Swap - Articles Not sure about the module swap part of this artical they said you have to use this ( P/N : 997-613-289-01 ) $382.40 through my local Porsche dealership. I have MFG P/N # 997-613-297-03 modual in my car from the factory I would like to know if I need to order the modual listed above. This has been done on other members cars on here without the module swap.Must have somthing to do with what they already had in thier cars?? One member says he just had the dealer set it as a ( muti function wheel ) after ignoring the fault messages that came on and worked fine. Another member said that the modual was the wrong one for this swap?? That it caused faults and he then had it removed and set as a muti function wheel and alls well? Any updates on this would be appreciated from others that have done this swap please. I just bought two paddle shifter wheels one from a 997 and the other from a 981 and would like to get started on my swap. But I need to know what I need to order or not for my car. Your thoughts guys??

Just a note on this swapping steering wheels. I just did swap a 2005 boxster s 6 speed manual steeing wheel with a 2010 987.2 style steering wheel. Both had no controls on the steering wheel, but I went from the triangular bag to the round style with the better feeling updated wheel. Horn will work if you set up the sterring wheel as a multi functional steering wheel from the same year of the car. In my case, 2005, and it works perfectly and horn honks too.

Swapped 2008 987.1 cayman s triangular non multifunction manual steering wheel to 2009+ 987.2 sport design 3 spokes "metal" steering wheel with round airbag. set the steering wheel as multifunction, horn works BUT when I turn off the car the horn goes off once, anyone knows how to solve this issue or has the same problem? the steering wheel we are using is SportDesign Steering Wheel Padded in Black Alcantara . Porsche 997 / 987 Boxster / 987 Cayman (99704440222) somebody told me I should replace the steering wheel control unit with a newer one that supports this newer wheel.. but there are several porsche codes and do not know which one is the right one.. Thanks for helping!!
