I haven't had the alignment checked recently but have always had even tyre wear so don't think it's a mile out!

I must admit I do like the way the wider tyres fill the arches but the last set I bought were over two years old despite being from a reputable source.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm currently running 315/235 PS2's on my turbo and need some new tyres. I've never used the standard sizing 295/225's and was thinking of giving them a go. Does anybody have experience of both, if so did you notice any difference good or bad? I must admit I do like the way the wider tyres fill the arches but the last set I bought were over two years old despite being from a reputable source. Price wise there's not much in it! Cheers in advance Mac

POST 2Original post

All I can add is that I have the 295s on my 4S, and they are good. Rear traction is fine, can be a bit frisky when asked, even with my fewer non-turbo horses. Like for like, I'd imagine bigger rear tyres would make for more understeer, if the fronts are unchanged. :dont know:

POST 3Original post

I have had on 19 inch rims: 315 continentials 295 and 305 Michelins I think i prefer 305 over 295 but tbh did not notice much dfference Not much help i suspect

POST 4Original post

295s is oem size and I would stick to that on 11j wheel. not always good to over size the rear as you will have more grip and probably more understeer then 315 is the oem size for the 996 GT2 on 12j rears.

POST 5Original post

If you want to try a set of 295 hollows then I have a set you can borrrow. kill the tyres, do whatever mileage you want. Happy to help you out :thumb:

POST 6Original post

The single reason to fit 315s is if you have 12j GT2 rear rims and nothing else will fit. If not then just get a more modern tyre design on the stock 295 size - the limited options available in 315 are archaic in compound and construction compared to modern rubber available in 295. If you are fitting 315s at all then one would assume that you were after more grip than stock, and in that case I would go for stock sizes with the Michelin Cup 2 personally.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers for the replies and the kind offer from HSC! The only reason I've stayed with the GT2 sizes is the car came with them and whenever I've needed tyres it's only been one end at a time and I wanted to keep the rolling radius the same. The handling and balance has always seemed good but it does ultimately understeer right at the limit but that's only right at 10/10 ths. One thing it does suffer from is a bit of tram lining and occasionally a feeling of darting left or right when under full power on less than perfect surfaces. Whether this is down to the larger sizes I don't know. I haven't had the alignment checked recently but have always had even tyre wear so don't think it's a mile out! Based on everyone's advice and the fact not many people have tried both I think I'll get 295 PS2's n4 and report back if I notice any difference! Cam skill have them for £190 each which isn't too bad Cheers again Mac

POST 9Original post

I had a look at Camskill and they're good value but you need to add fitting. By the time you have added that, a local supplier may only be a few £ different and it saves the hassle.

POST 10Original post

PS2's came out around 14 years ago, I'd try something more modern, maybe PS4, even Super Sports are an 8 year old design (I have them).

POST 11Original post

For the options- and I am looking at the same I would be tempted by the Yoko AD08R, my continentals which still have good tread are old!

POST 12Original post

Are we talking 18s because there isn't much available in that size.
