Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive inadvertently posted this under the wrong forum so Ive copied it to this one. 996 GT3 shifter any good Im looking at upgrading my stock 4S shifter. Ive been offered a 996 GT3 assembly. Is that significantly better than the stock 996 or do I really need to move to the 997 assembly to notice the shifting difference. Im not too keen to stock aftermarket offerings. thanks

the 997GT3 shift assembly is the most recent version, it's really what you want compare P/ N's this has been a very popular upgrade for quite some time now you will not be disappointed, one of first upgrades I did almost 10 years ago - - add a weighted shift **** and you are good to go ! https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/99742401091/

POST 5Original post

Agreed. It's very good. Tightens everything up in relationship to the extra play you get from a 22 year old plastic 996 shifter. I would gladly do it again. But it depends on what you are looking for. It's not a short shift kit, but it does shorten the throw a little bit. It's not riflelike in feel as is advertised by Numeric as an example, but it does tighten it up. But i track my car and i didnt want a short shift kit nor a rifle like feel of which i run the risk of blowing a shift. So I kept my 22 year old 996 shifter for a long time until @philbert996 was kind enough to sell me his. Whether you go 996 or 997 shifter, consider adding the FF shift right kit for the metal internals. If you need a FF kit, pm me. I have a brand new one in the box that I haven't used since I have Phil's shifter. It's on sale!

Nothing beats the Numeric Racing but its not cheap Best of the genuine is the 997 IMO
