Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

43 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking for your help, How many of you have a 996 Convertible, also how many people on daily driving/track have had the roll over bars deploy on you for no really impact ? Also does anyone have some pictures ? Does the Roll bar break the glass in the hood ? or is it just in the hard top ? Sorry for all the questions, i am doing some research on this at the moment. Thanks Paul

Year: 2007 Make: Porsche Model: 911 Price: $93000 Mileage: 16500 Color: White Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing Location (State): CA Transmission: Manual Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive Re-post for all new pictures 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 White/Blk Interior 19,500 miles. Clean Carfax No over-revs over Range 2, California tags paid through July 2016. Manual as well as all maintenance receipts. This car is fresh and ready to go, no $10k differed maintenance bill to get driving Car has fresh RMS from prior seller (records included) When I purchased the car (at 16,500 miles) I promptly: 1. Took the car to Sharkwerks for a $4,000 service (coolant lines pinned, metal coolant elbows, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, new serpentine belt) 2. Baselined all the fluids (oil, proper gearbox oil, blushed the brake lines, new coolant) 2a. After every 3 track days replaced oil and brake fluid as well 3. New brakes (OEM), new tires (RS-3 fresh), new front rotors 4. Installed an RSS rear roll bar (powder coated white to match) 5. New battery 6. The car came with an aftermarket sound system (included in sale high-end eclipse system with lifetime satellite radio), but I didn't like the stereo so I added the OEM radio delete 7. I installed Tarret rear toe links and had TCDesign align and corner balance the car 8. Installed Rennline pedals 9. 997 Cup front radiator guards $95,000 with regular seats or best offer

POST 5Original post

I had these pop up in my 99 cab with hard top on...definitley did not break the glass....

POST 6Original post

Thanks, money talks. New car is at horseless carage storage about to head towards me. This needs to go to warehouse for storage or be sold

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the help, has anyone else had any experiences ? thanks

POST 8Original post

92k One just sold yesterday for 99 with 6k fewer miles now is the time to grab one of these

POST 9Original post

Had them pop up in my old cab as well. Did not affect the glass. I also read a thread of them popping up on some guy at a track event w/ no collision, just g-forces. Ron

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your help. Does the new 996, 2002/03 model have the rubber on top of the roll hoops ?? i.e. the one with the glass rear rear window Thanks

POST 13Original post

I htink the rollbar is the same on MY02 and older models...

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anymore information ??? anyone

POST 19Original post

Quote: Don: thanks for posting the picture of my car, after my "negative G" adventure last year. BTW, putting the bars back down takes abut 2 minutes. Stick a rod down to hold the latch open, and push them back down till they latch in.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your help so far, the main reason i am asking is that i work for Aston martin and we are using a system similar to the Porsche. However, with all information i have found so far is that the roll bars do push up the perpex on the early cabriolets, and they smash the glass on the hard top when fitted. I believe the glass is replaceable on the late 996 cabriolet ? is this correct ? Also Orient Express, what conditions were you using the car for the rollover bars to activate ? Thanks Paul

POST 22Original post

Lots of talkers, not a lot of cash in hand. Buy before the spring price increases

POST 23Original post

Paul: The glass on the 02 and later Cabs is pretty easy to replace. I have seen the procedure, and it is just popping out the gasket from a subframe. When the bars popped in this picture, I was going over a rise in the road that caused the car to go a little airborne. When I was coming down, the bars popped.

POST 25Original post

Quote: Paul, I have seen the rollbars deployed on a 996 with the soft top up. No trauma to the fabric or plastic window.

Bump - willing to trade (plus cash) for a 997.2 RS Best reasonable offer on the car and its yours

Year: 2007 Make: Porsche Model: 911 Price: $93000 Mileage: 16500 Color: White Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing Location (State): CA Transmission: Manual Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive The add confuses me - what seats are in the car? You state regular seats, but the pics seems to show buckets. Second the request for interior pics and details about what is coming with the car.

POST 30Original post

Sorry no trades I have both buckets and standard 997 GT3 seats. The price I would sell the car would change based on what seats came with it at the time of sale There are some interior shots there, please let me know what other things in the interior you would be interested to see If you are a cash in hand ready to go buyer PM me and ill give you my number so we can discuss on a call Thanks

POST 31Original post

I apologize, but there are 4 pictures, none of which show anything on the interior of the car. General pics to demonstrate condition etc would be appreciated.
