Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This will be a stupid question for all you 996 owners. What is the difference between the 911 and 996? Are there photos of the 996 that i can view. I visited the porsche website and it doesnt even show a picture of the 996. Is it just a different version of the 911? Any help would much be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

All 996s are 911s.....and the correct marketing or public numeration is 911 (911 Coupe, Cab, Targa, etc). The number 996 is something that helps us differentiate what 'era' 911 we are talking about (and is used internally at Porsche)....ie 1999 and beyond are 996s and use variations of the M96 (watercooled) engine. 94-98 was the 993 (I think it was 94), before the 993 was the 964 starting in the late 80s, etc ....all 911s as far as PAG marketing Dept is concerned.
