Although as so many new 911’s seem to run on private plates there was only a few to chose from on the stock plates from the dealer.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • PistonHeads: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

22/72 plate makes no difference to me and won't effect residuals in my opinion.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1Original post

Get the car ASAP. The build date is the build date and a massive proportion will end up on private plates anyway, IMO.

POST 2Original post

It’s more likely to be a ‘72’ plate from 1st September but yes, worth a few weeks wait.

Would you take the car whenever it’s available and enjoy it or wait a couple of weeks (if August delivery) to get a 77 plate. What would you do? Five years is a bit of a wait I'd get it soonest

You have waited this long, may as well see it out for a few weeks more for the registration to be on the most recent year. You'll regret it otherwise.

I don't believe the change of reg makes much (if any) difference to the residual value. That's the only possible reason I can think of to delay?

Mine is due to arrive end of July/beginning of August, I've told my dealer I want it ASAP and as soon as it arrives. 22/72 plate makes no difference to me and won't effect residuals in my opinion. It's the Porsche build date that is more important, not what plate the UK Govt decide should be on your car!

Don’t think it makes a difference On a different scale But In 2015 I bought a new fiesta ST and was given £500 off if I picked it up before 1st September so it was registered august 30th.

POST 17Original post

I honestly don’t think the mid-year change makes any difference - most people don’t understand or notice it. Far better to enjoy the car in two of the nicest months of the year.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Agree. Was my thought too. Life is short.

Edited by Docmem on Monday 6th June 22:05 I think it would need to be a few days not weeks to make it worth while in a just for fun terms. Since they added in the twice a year plate change it’s not longer a big deal. Plus if dating the car bothers anyone one private plates are a few hundred quid. It’s generally three weeks from rolling off the production line to getting the keys. Although as so many new 911’s seem to run on private plates there was only a few to chose from on the stock plates from the dealer. This time I’ve got a cheap standard 22 plate to go on my July car so its easy to remember when paying for parking.
