Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
Other than the very occasional service, I'm the only one that drives mine and memory (as well as electric) turned out to be a waste of cash.
Leading evidence: 'waste of cash' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'waste of cash' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust eats without manualy doing so' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Just like the fact I can adjust the eats without manualy doing so.

Suggestion
It would have been nice to get low end power but its just with this combo yielded better sound/throttle response and smoother running engine thruout the power band.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone gotten real perfomance gain with these things and really how much can I expect.
Just seeking a good way to get some improvement without dishing out a bundle.
Hi Bloke. Did the Fabspeed exhaust/cold air intake, bmc f1 airfilter and TRG's Unichip. And with all that you won't feel that low end torque by doing that which most of the hp is gained on the higher rpm from 5,000 rpm and up dynod from the wheel got an extra 15-20 hp. It would have been nice to get low end power but its just with this combo yielded better sound/throttle response and smoother running engine thruout the power band. I think best way which I plan to do in the future is to lighten the 996 so you can yield better power to weight ratio. The only thing is doing that it gets quite expensive. I'm still debating about changing towards gt3 seats since I do like the creature comforts of electric seats with memory. Even lightening it up though there's a possibility that's not enough to yield the umph you may want. The Porsche is configured for the track which does with quite ease but straightline its not thee best. I always thought the stock exhaust sounded like a hoover vacuum so if you want that real throaty sound and low rumble at idle I have to say Fabspeed is the way to go. People on the track are simply impressed how great it sounds and this is coming from big v8 cars ie corvettes/camaros and 996's with stock exhausts etc. Regards. Mike
996FLT,
Yes for me. It is a daily driving car and mabye i do few track events this year. I saw the posting about the Fabspeed but wasnt sure about it. But, it seems like a cheap way to make the car sound better at least.
Thanks for your input, btw, did you find installing easy, soso, or hard.
TIA
I had it professionally installed which took him lkke 5 hrs to do. On average I've heard about2-3 hrs for install. If your mechanically inclined I imagine you could do it yourself as I heard other people had done it. Why my mechanic took so long-more then likely didnt do install of mods on any 996's so I was the guinea pig. Luckily he didn't destroy my car. If you plan to get it installed when you first listen to it- it may seem the sound is totally irregular(peaks and valleys) over the powerband like loud sometimes and whooshimg air sometimes and you will get a funny smell too. But once you break it in and the fibers inside smooth out-its a great sounding exhaust-real throaty and low rumble at idle. So if your getting it done you mite expect this early break-in period. Actually the hardest part is lining up the exhaust tips and also in order for exhaust to fit(happened to me a one other Rennlister) sometimes trimming had to be done but majority didn't have too just to let you know. Regards. Mike
"I'm still debating about changing towards gt3 seats since I do like the creature comforts of electric seats with memory."
Interestingly, I find my leather GT3 seats MUCH more comfortable than the supple, full power, lumbar support, memory, leather ones they replaced. Also, how many people drive your car? Other than the very occasional service, I'm the only one that drives mine and memory (as well as electric) turned out to be a waste of cash.
Sure would be nice to sit on the gt3 seats myself and see how they feel. Just like the fact I can adjust the eats without manualy doing so. Like I prefer power windows over manual winders but as I suggested on my previous posts if I want better power to weight ratio must lighten the car. Regards. Mike
