My battery was 4 years old so replaced with a new one and all good.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with a new one and all good' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check cables connected properly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Been charged overnight not connected to the terminals, showing 12.6v even after video, have tested with lights on and they dim so sounds like battery to me but wanted to check with you fellas in the know

Suggestion
If it still reads 12.6 about 10mins after coming off the charger then check cables connected properly

Suggestion
When/if you change the battery don't forget to put the ignition key in place before you disconnect otherwise you will be hit by the alarm going off right by where you are removing the battery.
Run car will probably start it given decent cables/time

Suggestion
a jump start off another running car will probably start it given decent cables/time but That Won't put sufficent charge on to keep it going unless you go for a good long drive.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Video showing what's happening. I've been playing with the stereo electrics, so doors been open and ignition left one for a while. Been charged overnight not connected to the terminals, showing 12.6v even after video, have tested with lights on and they dim so sounds like battery to me but wanted to check with you fellas in the know

Not seen the video but if it's struggling to turn the engine then the likely causes are battery, starter motor, poor earth.
If it's been fine up until now, the battery is almost certainly the problem. Have you connected the terminals back cleanly after you disconnected them?
Do you know how old the battery is? Is it dated anywhere. Good batteries should last up to 10 yrs but running them flat can reduce that and Porsche batteries don't have a good reputation on this site. If you're replacing it, Bosch are good but really any reputable make should be ok.
Thanks, nomidea it's a Yusa one but I have read they don't like a poor battery. Looks like I'll be looking for replacement
Anyone use a battery tender on their car? I don't on bikes, but they don't need the oomph the car ones do
When I picked my car up from a valet the battery had gone flat. The guy was embarrassed and said he had never happen to him before. Bump start and battery conditioner when I got home and all was good. So hopefully yours will be the same.
99.9% you just have a low/flat battery. A charger will sort it out but will probably need more than just an overnight charge depending on your charging current, for example a battery of 80aH capacity (standard 096 sort) will take 21hours with a 3.8amp charger. a jump start off another running car will probably start it given decent cables/time but That Won't put sufficent charge on to keep it going unless you go for a good long drive. 12.6 - 12.7v is fully charged but you will read higher than this after coming off the charger. If it still reads 12.6 about 10mins after coming off the charger then check cables connected properly
A quick solution is to put a new battery on it as they come fully charged, not nessisarily a cheap solution. If it's an old battery I'd stick a new one on as they do get a bit past it and get unreliable
I'm about to replace battery and have the old one off. Testing, it shows fine and charged yet won't do anything other than in the video. Doesn't Ben attempt to turn over, just the clicking.
Is it possible that the alarm earth that was fitted to the nav dvd cage must be fitted or it will stop anything happening? I didn't reattach, but I did the one on the main head unit.
Just want to ensure I haven't missed anything.
Thanks
Video wont load for me .. says not found :dont know:
If the starter solinoid is clicking but not spinning over then a starter motor is a logical fault .. if the dash lights flicker at the same time then it would indicate a lack of power which is normally a battery or a main lead connection fault .
Is there another link for the video ?
Cheers Kris ..
Thats a flat battery or a VERY bad battery connection / power supply fault with battery being the most obvious ... earth lead check or jump lead to bypass the earth to prove thats ok .
I can get more involved if needed but for now its a battery fault .
+1 battery.
Happened to mine; got the car jump started and took it out for a 30miles drive, 10 months later still all fine (Battery was fairly new at the time).
Check the earth lead, they can corrode where they bolt onto the bulkhead. It looks fine but inside the sheathing they are hanging on by one copper core. Taking the lead off may have disturbed it.
If it's gel battery then I'm afraid it's gone to the battery graveyard as they don't usually come back to life if let to go flat for some reason unlike an acid one.
Definitely flat battery. I don't drive mine much now but if I leave it too long between drives what happens in the video happens to me. My battery was 4 years old so replaced with a new one and all good. Once the battery has completely discharged my understanding is that the battery is damaged and won't hold a charge as well as one that hasn't fully discharged.
I bought an HAL battery 110 Lifetime guarantee battery from Halfords for £145. Not cheap but worth it as a full charge is still ok after 12 days inactivity. Obviously the warranty only covers a battery fault.
When/if you change the battery don't forget to put the ignition key in place before you disconnect otherwise you will be hit by the alarm going off right by where you are removing the battery.
