Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They managed to fix and remedy a fault in a couple of hours (which included test driving the car twice) that the dealership said they needed to remove the engine to diagnose and repair.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well I decided to tackle this myself, so after much research and spending all of about about $50 on a spoiler removal tool and some Lucas power steering stop leak, I pulled the hydraulic spoiler system apart and fixed it in situ.
Hi all, it's been a little while since I last posted on here so I thought I'd just give you all a heads up where things are at.
My car needed to go back to the dealership for a second time about 5 weeks ago, and after failing to see eye-to-eye on things I had the car removed and taken to an independent.
Needless to say I found the independent to be outstanding. They managed to fix and remedy a fault in a couple of hours (which included test driving the car twice) that the dealership said they needed to remove the engine to diagnose and repair.
They also went over the rest of the car and gave me a detailed breakdown of anything they felt was outstanding. What amazed me is that they picked up pretty much all the issues (including rattles) that I was aware of, but without me even mentioning to them. Some of these items I had addressed immediately with the balance to be done next service. The difference now, is that I actually feel like I have a complete understanding of the car and confidence in it, and with the (small) issues that still remain.
They picked up a few things, non-compliant brake lines... which they replaced, creaking front control arm... they managed to de-squeak it, only to find a secondary creak in the joint... so replaced the control arm... now the only rattle in the car is a minor one in the sunroof when it is raised... but I'm confident I can find this as when I push my finger against it the noise stops. They likewise picked up a small weep on the transmission sump gasket, but have indicated it's so minor that just sort it on the next transmission service. They did pick up another small leak on the connection between the oil tank and block, which they felt was okay to leave until the next service... having said that though it's suddenly developed a bit worse so I'll look at getting this addressed shortly. The only remaining thing is a very small fracture on one of the header pipes, which they have indicated seems to seal itself after about 30seconds or so of starting the car. They have suggested instead of getting this repaired in due course I should consider swapping the headers for performance ones... with this in mind any recommendations?
Now, as per some of my previous posts I was having some issues with my Spoiler, and the failure warning light coming on due to the right ram slowly weeping over time. Well I decided to tackle this myself, so after much research and spending all of about about $50 on a spoiler removal tool and some Lucas power steering stop leak, I pulled the hydraulic spoiler system apart and fixed it in situ. The whole process took me about 3 hours, including a few breaks. 5 weeks on the results look to be good, other than a bit of minor seepage which I'd expect as things settle down it's working great. I'm not saying this is the way to fix it, but after much research it is the way I decided to tackle my problem. The way I look at it is the spoiler system lasted 9 years okay and only started playing up in my case due to a minor leak, so why not refill/top-up (with a stop leak product), bleed and let it carry on. I did take some photos while I was doing it, so as soon as I get a chance I'll post them up here with some notes... I'm no mechanic, in fact I sit behind a PC most of the day... and for those of you who are aware will know from my previous posts that I'm in a wheelchair... but with a bit of patience I did find it relatively easy even doing it by myself. But as I said I'm not saying this is the way to fix it, it is just the way I decided to tackle my problem.
Cheers
Kiwi
Glad things are looking up for you. I know you have had quite a few issues with the car over the last year so well done for sticking with it. Summer is just around the corner for you so get out there and enjoy it. :thumb:
