Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Thanks Richard H, GT4 I have cleaned the MAF previously following the method on the forum, so feel confident to give it a go again.
Leading evidence: 'Clean maf previously following the method' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'electrical glitch, contacts etc' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean ...witha solvent cleaner' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

could also be MAF needs a clean, get her out and clean...witha solvent cleaner that evaporates..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had an EEEK moment on the weekend.
Had parked up at the house and the car was on a slope and left over night.
started the following day and drove down the drive then suddenly the ABS failure, drive to workshop illuminated on the dash, followed by acute heart failure!
I stopped turned off the engine, started and it was still there.Panicked, turned off for 30 secs then restart and all OK.
Has been fine since, any ideas?

mine did this shortly after i got it, and the cause was if i remember right, a loose wire on the rear brake light for the spoiler area, as whe i took it all out and reconnected it, all was well ! could also be MAF needs a clean, get her out and clean...witha solvent cleaner that evaporates.. i did this also
MAF error?
Probably an electrical glitch, contacts etc. (like brake connections as as suggested).
Keep an eye out if it happens again.
If it's the MAF (air mass sensor - tells the car how much air is getting to the engine intake), you need to ascertain whether it is dirty, damaged or just loose connection.
If it is dirty you can carefully remove (it fixes on air-intake near air box) and wash with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) from Maplin etc. If it is broken you can get an OEM Bosch part for about £150 (or a lot more from Porsche), or if loose connection, refit it!
For washing see here:

That is correct.
All it does (as it is a hot wire) is get cold as more air blows over it and it reports how cold it gets (or its change in resistance) to the DME (ECU) which then decides how much fuel the engine gets.
The problem is there is no separate MAF light, the DME simply registers the fault using a combination of other warning lamps available. Hence ABS/PSM etc.
The reason for a bad MAF to throw the PSM/ABS lights is that the DME and ABS/PSM module communicate. If, due to a faulty MAF, the DME sends a signal to the ABS/PSM controller which the ABS/PSM thinks is implausible, then it throws a wobbly and turns on the lights.
On RoW cars a faulty MAF will not turn on the Check Engine Light. (On US cars, it does). So a MAF will register a fault in the DME, but can cause the ABS/PSM warning due to the implausible signal.
As has been said, the common causes are MAF and brake light switch. Also, a faulty ABS speed sensor is a common cause.
Even if the brake lights are working normally, it can still be the switch. There are two contacts inside - one normally open and one normally closed. One set can fail without affecting the other.
I would suggest ignoring it and wait to see if it comes back.
Thanks Richard H, GT4 I have cleaned the MAF previously following the method on the forum, so feel confident to give it a go again.
But I will monitor it.
Thanks
