I had used an oil filter cross application reference to pick out a Mann filter for my 2010 (Gen 2) Cayman. It stated that the Mann 719/5X filter would fit my car. However, that filter was smaller than the Porsche part number 9A1.107.224.00 filter in my car. With some online research I found out that the Porsche 9A1.107.224.00 filter is a Mahle OX366D. The filter for the Gen 1 engine is Mann 719/5X or Mahle OX128/D. The filter size has increased for the Gen 2 engines. I have not been able to find a Mann or any other brand of filter which is equivalent to the Mahle OX366D.
Does anyone know if there is any other brand besides Mahle which makes an oil filter element to fit the Gen 2 engine? If there is, what is the brand's part number?
I found the same problem with the MANN database incorrectly saying that the 719/5X fits the gen 2
Caymans
- it does not. I have asked MANN to correct their database.

Update from MANN:
Hello,
Thank you very much for the nice phone conversation.
We truly apologize for the MANN-FILTER catalog error. Our catalog data has been corrected immediately and now shows the correct information.
HU 719/5 X is the correct oil filter for the
Cayman
3.4L manufactured until 02/2009. For all
Cayman
3.4L manufactured after 02/2009, a different oil filter has to be used which we currently do not have available.
Thank you very much for identifying this catalog error and your ongoing trust in our MANN-FILTER products.
Best regards,

NOTE: While MANN has corrected their catalog, Application Associates the Certified Distributor of MANN-FILTERS, still lists the wrong filter in their online catalog
I found these filters that are listed as being for the Gen II (2009 - 2012) 987
Boxster
, although I haven't tried any of them:
FRAM

MAHLE

Pentius PCB11008
STP 11008
WIX 57070
WIX 1157070
After I had my mechanic check the oil filter shortly after I'd bought it, he found that the selling dealer had used the wrong filter (WIX 57070), it was an issue with the WIX catalog. I've used the MAHLE OX366D filters since.
Thanks for the post. I just completed my gen2 oil and filter change. I thought I'd got the wrong filter until I realised the previous owners service by a
Porsche
independent had fitted a gen1 filter. Hopefully it will still have worked to some degree while it was fitted.
