Hi everyone,
I just flashed my 987
Boxster
. CEL light was on last year due to the installation of NHP catless headers. The problem I have is I diagnosed the CEL with Durametrics. There were numerous codes but all that I am sure I can fix. When I checked the motor status the catalytic was pass but the 2 fails were for the oxygen sensors and fuel tank ventilation. I am sure that this is due to the NHP headers. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Is it that the o2 sensors were not connected to the header when installed? The header was installed at a
Porsche
dealership.
Thanks
Miles
Are these stored codes or active codes? From discription, it sounds like they are not active anymore and you just need to clear them.
How can I tell the difference?
My big problem is that I have the o2 sensor and fuel tank as a fail. Do you think it is because of the install of the header?
Thanks
Simplest way to tell the difference is to clear them. If they come back, then the condition is ongoing. BTW, Durametric logs the codes, and allows you to print them out. So you don't really loose them if you are worried.
When I run a scan (even with no check engine light), I get weird stuff once in a while. It was probably just a fluke that didn't repeat - so the ECU didn't display any problem with the light. Your fuel tank code may be one like that. Maybe you started the engine with the gas cap loose.
it looks like you are not looking at fault codes but readiness.
Hi Jhoffman,
I was looking at the readiness as it is the basis of passing an emissions test.
Thanks
Miles
When are you checking readiness? Your car should be nice and warm.
Thanks Jhoffman. I tested it for readiness after 3 months of no driving. I will, check again after driving her to the dealership. I am concerned that the dealership did not install NHP headers properly. I checked the max speed motors site and found this
O2 Oxygen Sensor "Check Engine Light Fix"
I wonder if this will solve the problem. Do you know if anyone has not used this and haven't had a problem?
Thanks
Miles
If you have catless headers and dont have a flash that codes out o2 sensors than you will have a check engine light. You can try those simulators but they dont always work.
I told softronics about the catless headers. So I have cleared the codes now so I hope this works.
I will update the post when I get the car back on Thursday.
Headers won't cause a fuel tank vent code. Typically it's from a vacuum leak.
Thanks diver dog. I will relay that message to the service manager.

Thanks for all the advice. Passed emissions today

I had the same problem, O2 sensor not ready due to softronics tune. It was solved by returning to the original tune files.
This is not caused by the Softronic flash yet changes to CA emissions changed in May of 2015. Softronic includes the original file to flash back for any reason and CA has changed standards that are outside of the federal regulations since 2000. CA and a few have decided that the only non ready status will now be the "Tank Vent" in which is their own defining of Fed law. You may contact Softronic for an update for this or simply flash to the original file we have provided in all files.
Can i disable/program/raise with durametric pro o2 sensor? I want to remove all cats.. But at the moment i don't want to flash with softronic. Thanks
