Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was having some problems with gear changes at my last track day so I jacked the car up and did some looking around when I got home. There doesn’t appear to be any issues with the cables or linkages. Everything at the shifter looks fine also. FYI - I installed Numeric cables last year and everything appears to be in order. When I did a test drive at home I was having trouble getting into 4th gear and reverse - same as at the track (some grinding and shifter is not moving as far backwards for 4th and reverse). Does ok shifting to 2nd. This is a 1998 5 speed. When under the car, I did notice that the gear selector rod (I think that’s what it’s called) in 2nd gear goes in further than it does for 4th. Thoughts on what the issue could be? Photos to follow.
