Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
It beats changing the speed manually every 2 minutes.
Leading evidence: 'Replace speed manually every 2 minutes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace speed manually every 2 minutes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The mirror is great, but I find the rain sensor useless and would not get another. The lag time is such that it never really wipes with the speed I need - either too fast once the windshield has dried, or too slow with that first burst of rain.
I seem to recall that the mirror and rainsensor have to be ordered as a package, however, at least here in Germany.

My dealer told me depending on build date some have a *** in the fuse box area for adjustment. I have a MY'99 late build with no such ***. Perhaps some of you guys can check to see if you got one.
I have both and love them. I had only seen the larger detached rain sensors of the early year 996s and didn't really want that, but I did want the dimming mirrors, so I went with the option anyway on my 2002 C4 cab. The new rain sensor is much smaller and more built-in to the mirror backing than in the past. My dealer claims it works a lot better than the older ones as well (but he'll tell me anything to make me happy). I live in Seattle and leave it on sensor mode all the time. When it starts to rain, it just kicks on and wipes at the perfect rate for me. When it stops raining, it just stops wiping. I'm surprised more cars don't have this.
Have both on my C4S
Was out in heavy rain on Sunday, driving at night.
Love the dimming mirrors - one of the best upgrades for the money.
The rain sensor is ok. It beats changing the speed manually every 2 minutes. It does a fair job, but in real heavy squalls, there can be a 1/2 second delay that can be disconcerting if you don't expect it.
