Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I've searched but for the life of me cant find a service interval for radiator fluid drain and flush either in mileage or years ( mine is at 68,000k and I've been reading it is not a service for the faint of heart - more of a dealer or specialist job ? Thoughts ?

POST 2Original post

Porsche says the coolant is "lifetime". The coolant manufacturer says 5 years / 150K miles. Personally I just replace it every five years. The job is not very hard, but you need an air compressor and a vacuum fill tool if you want to do it at home. The service manual (can be purchased through alldatadiy.com) has the procedure. Harbor Freight has that same basic air-lift system for around $75.. works great.

POST 4Original post

POST 5Original post

I haven't tried the Maddox one from HF, but it looks like it's mostly made of plastic. The first one I bought (Uview 550500 Airlift II Economy Cooling System Refiller) was also plastic and it broke like the third or fourth time I used it. If you're only going to use it once and again the plastic ones are probably okay, but my recommendation would be to spend a little more and get the metal one I linked to. Having tried both types it's much better quality.
