Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Checked my manual quickly and major comment was not to exceed 4200 rpm for the first 2000 miles, and vary rpm/gears while driving to "sweeten" the engine.
Leading evidence: 'Check manual quickly and major comment was not' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check manual quickly and major comment was not' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just purchased an 02 996 here in Japan. I will take delivery in the next week or so. Problem is that I won't get an English owners manual from Porsche Japan for a couple weeks after taking delivery. My reading Japanese ability isn't so good. Just wondering if I could get any suggestions any tips on breaking it in. This is also my first Porsche, so I am a newby as well as illiterate.
By the way I bought a Seal Gray C2 with Tiptronic (they only special order the manual here, absolutely no demand...). Thanks!
Congratulations on your new Porsche.
What options do you get with the car? I remember your earlier post about lighting, PSM etc.
As to break in tips, I will look in my manual....Why don't you contact Porsche of North America... explain your situation and ask them to FedEx a english manual to you at your expense...
with the traffic in Japan you will probably be very happy with the Tiptronic.

Hi, and congratulations on your 996. I agree, Berkley's suggestion about PCNA is a good one.

Maybe there is something on their website
<a href="http://www.porsche.com" target="_blank">www.porsche.com</a> or maybe Porsh Club of America might be in a position to help. <a href="http://www.pca.org" target="_blank">www.pca.org</a>

Good luck!
Thanks to all for your help. If Porsche Japan doesn't come through I will try PCNA. But in the meantime I feel pretty good to go with the info supplied by those who replied.
FYI the options I got were; Tiptronic, PSM, Bi-Xenon lights, Bose, CD, Sunroof, Power Seats, Heated Seats and color wheel crests. The last three were 'thrown in' by the dealer as they were not really wanted by me. The cars here in Japan don't have many of same standard options as those in North America, nor do they come as 'packages', eg. advanced technic package. I guess they like to make it add up here. Still I managed to bargain about 8% off the MSRP.
congrats on your first porsche, will definetely not be your last!
The manual says not to exceed 5000 rpm for the first 3000 kilometers/1850 miles.
from my own experience i can tell you that 3000 kilometers seems to take forever........
