Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have recently repainted all 4 calipers (top job) and renewed the front discs and pads.
Leading evidence: 'Replace front discs and pads' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'somewhere in the hydraulics or pedal mechanics' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace bellows, or is it easier' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As you say, it happened from the point when you bled the brakes and used much more pedal travel than normal.

Suspected cause
From what you have said about a lazy pedal, I would have thought that the problem is somewhere in the hydraulics or pedal mechanics.

Right, so is it an easy job to replace the bellows, or is it easier to replace the servo :?: Is any of this a DIY task

Richard, its a 99 C2 cab, had no issue until i removed, repainted and replaced the front discs pads????
Replace master cylinder, the fluid and its a little better

Now when i bled the brakes i used a full pedal so i could have possibly damaged the master cylinder, so i have now replaced the master cylinder, the fluid and its a little better, but not just right.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have recently repainted all 4 calipers (top job) and renewed the front discs and pads. All seemed to be fine but i had a "lazy" peadl, what i mean is it returned very slowly. Now when i bled the brakes i used a full pedal so i could have possibly damaged the master cylinder, so i have now replaced the master cylinder, the fluid and its a little better, but not just right. Now i didn't replce the anti squeal shims and didn't "glue" the pads to the shims (just put some copper slip inbetween) the question is, could this be causing the problem, if so when i buy new shims, do they come with the adhesive attached or is that a seperate item, can't seem to find the answer. Any help will be very much appreciated :?:
Richard, its a 99 C2 cab, had no issue until i removed, repainted and replaced the front discs pads???? Don't want to appear thick, but where are the bellows you mention? :thumb:
The new type bellows are shown as A1 in the diagram. You can buy a kit to replace the old ones (A), but the servo can get really rusty inside and gets all gummed up. I've seen a couple, and they look awful.
They started fitting the new bellows in 2000, so you probably have the old type.
Right, so is it an easy job to replace the bellows, or is it easier to replace the servo :?: Is any of this a DIY task
If so how much for the uprated bellows and where would i get such an item, sorry for all the questions
The kit is part number 000 043 204 66, and they are £47.72 inc VAT. The servo is £330.18. I would say that if you have changed the master cylinder, then the bellows or servo should be a DIY job.
I'm not saying this is the problem, but that it is a possibility. I doubt you will be able to tell without removing the servo, which is what I would do before shelling out. Difficult if it's a daily driver though.
If you want a copy of the TSB on the bellows, drop me a PM with your email address.
Possibly. I don't think sticking the damping shims to the pads would make any difference to the pedal feel. From what you have said about a lazy pedal, I would have thought that the problem is somewhere in the hydraulics or pedal mechanics.
As you say, it happened from the point when you bled the brakes and used much more pedal travel than normal. Having fitted a new master cylinder, I think if it was mine I would be looking at the pedal box and servo. Hence the possibility of the bellows causing a problem. They split, and water from the front cowl area gets into the servo.
