The part itself isn't the only thing needed - you also need an enabling code from Porsche to tell the ECU/TCU to recognize and enable the Sport/Sport-Plus - and the enabling code has to be purchased using your VIN# and installed with a PIWIS.

I believe this is the subject of a stop-sale by Porsche on any cars in stock (used/new) with Sport/Sport-Plus starting with the 981 due to emissions problems when in Sport-Plus mode.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I am trying to get the sport/sport plus unit for my Cayman R. The Porsche dealer said nothing is available nationwide. It will take 6 weeks or longer to get it out of Germany. Would this work if I found this on a parts car and had it installed in my car. If anyone knows of anything I sure would appreciate it. John

POST 2Original post

John, I believe this is the subject of a stop-sale by Porsche on any cars in stock (used/new) with Sport/Sport-Plus starting with the 981 due to emissions problems when in Sport-Plus mode. Meaning this part may be impossible to get new. The part itself isn't the only thing needed - you also need an enabling code from Porsche to tell the ECU/TCU to recognize and enable the Sport/Sport-Plus - and the enabling code has to be purchased using your VIN# and installed with a PIWIS. I think you're out of luck for the moment. AFAIK - Porsche hasn't resolved the emission issues and is probably being extremely cautious to not make it a bigger problem by continuing to sell the option as an after-sale item. Porsche orders stop-sale on certain models for performance option causing them to create excess emissions When driven in "Sport Plus" with the Sport Chrono Package, certain older 911, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, and Panamera models create excess emissions. www.businessinsider.com Stop-Sale Order Has Crippled Porsche Owners’ Ability to Resell 2012-2018 ‘Sport Plus Mode’-Equipped Vehicles, Lawsuit Alleges A Penns. resident alleges a stop-sale order issued by Porsche over emissions concerns for a number of 2012-2018 models has significantly hampered his and other drivers’ efforts to resell their vehicles. www.classaction.org https://jalopnik.com/porsche-stops-sale-of-high-trim-models-over-emissions-p-1846168715

POST 3Original post

WOW, that is the best information. I just bought the car on Monday, sent the money for the Peridot colored. Would it be a deal braker if it does not have it. I have never driven a Cayman R. Thanks a million. John
