Anyone using these, or know someone who uses? They seem to get good reviews and the whole kit front and rear, pads and rotors, is crazy cheap. Like $137 for everything on
Amazon
right now.
Crazy cheap and
superb quality
don't live in the same zip code. Personally I'd rather spend more on the front end for quality, performance and longevity. I mean Stoptech units for my Ford were more than that for one axle.
Well that’s the odd thing, I looked these up a few months ago, as the company has been advertising quite a bit, and the price was well over $300. I thought “not bad for front and rear brakes that’s almost as cheap as my Camry.” And when I look up other brake kits for other vehicles, that seems to be the typical price too. The cheapo price almost seems like a mistake or a clearance or something. Anyway, I ordered and I’ll let you know if they’re terrible.
To each their own. My brother ( a talented mechanic at our dad's dealership) is old like me now. So his F150 is at the dealer, they tell him his rear discs need to be turned. He texts me and asks what I think. I reply "NO", you see when our company cars used PHH service they insisted on the practice and the brakes always pulsed within five thousand miles. I shared that tidbit with him but stupidly he let them do it. Now said brakes are noisy when they weren't before and the same dealer reports that as normal. When he
next
visits, we will change them with new components while I laugh at him and have a brew or two. He busted my stones about paying more for the Stoptech units I have on the front of my Escape. Thing is my car has drums in back (thanks Ford) and said units improved the initial bite and stopping power noticeably, I feel they were worth every cent. And since Mr. Lazy who could do discs blindfolded let the dealer coerce him he will end up spending even more! Especially when the labor is FREE I say go top shelf.
I have a set on my 05 base
boxster
.
have about 20 thousand miles on them.
no problems.
I do not track my car.
Bernie
They are popular in the Corvette world. That's a high horsepower car with an appetite for brakes.
OP; Did you end up getting them? I have a set of Power Stop rotors and Z23 Evolution Ceramic Brake Pads on my 2013 Ford Taurus SHO and they seem to be working well. Not sure if I'd put them on my
Boxster
though.
I bought them, couldn’t pass up that deal. There’s a little more life in my existing brakes though, so I may wait a few months to install.
I put
Powerstop
pads and rotors (front and back) on my 2009
Boxster
(2.9 base) about 18 months ago.
I paid no where near the rock bottom price you mentioned.
The brakes have worked out Very Very well for me.
Powerstop
brakes reduced the brake dust by.... maybe 80-90% and still have very good braking performance. I don't track my car, just a fair weather driver here in mid-Michigan.
Tom
Very good experience with
Powerstop
ceramics here, too. Far less dusty, and I find the brake modulation to actually be smoother than the stock OEM pads. Just better, independent of price.
I do swap them out for track pads when going to the track, though.
Update on this, I have recently installed them and they seem great so far!
