Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hi Guys, Can you retrofit a multifunction steering wheel to a base cayman which originally didn't come from the factory with one. I have the opportunity of a mfsw and was wondering if it could be done and what exactly is needed. Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

I have a 987.1 , and I’ve done this with a MF wheel I bought off of forum classifieds. You need to get the car coded to accept the inputs from the MF buttons. Dealer can do it, but mine wanted $500 for the job . My indy shop did it for much, much less. It works great — very happy with the upgrade. Note that if you have an aftermarket head unit, you may also need another internal adapter. It was a bit of a logistical saga — my installer added the adapter when installing a Kenwood carplay unit, then I changed the wheel to add the MF buttons, then my indy shop coded the car, then I had the adapter programmed correctly to control the head unit. Wasn’t sure if it was all gonna work, but in the end the gods smiled upon me and the three separate shops! Vik

POST 3Original post

Hi Vic, Yes I have an aftermarket Kenwood headunit, I've ordered the MFSW interface. I fitted cruise control and the multi function steering wheel this weekend so I'm now booked in to my local porsche specialist, I've been quoted £69 + 20% tax so not bad compared to Porsche direct. Porsche wanted around £300. Unfortunately I have to wait 3 weeks but hopefully it'll be worth the wait. Carl
