Suggestion

No, I meant the engine was still running after being separated from the car, they had footage on the live broadcast where you saw exhaust coming out while it sat on the track (and mixing it up with the steam)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

That would have to have destroyed that engine? I wonder what internal carnage there is?

POST 3Original post

it was still running when it was dumped on the track apparently

POST 4Original post

I know that's racing but still sad to watch - just like that!

POST 6Original post

Oh wow. Doubt the engine is running with no fuel?  and no ECU to run it.

POST 7Original post

I think he meant the red car was still running, not the removed engine. There's no way it could do More than a couple of revolutions after being separated from spark and fuel. I'm going to keep an eye on eBay for a low-k 3.8 race engine I have seen images of high speed ferrari road crashes where the engine gets separated from the chassis. But then the chassis is also usually in two pieces. Having looked at one of these cars up close just last weekend, that there is a very expensive little shunt.

POST 9Original post

WHAT?? My mechanic says it takes 2.5 hrs to do that!

POST 10Original post

Have to agree with Russ, looked like it was still kicking over for a bit sitting on the bitumen.

POST 11Original post

I was there...the track marshalls didn't know what to do with it! Finally a crane got it picked up and carted it off. In my warped mind I was imagining his mechanic hiding a couple of large bolts that he had "left over" from the re-build...so that's what they were for!
