it had no picture or spec on the VW approved site and turned out to be a pretty-reg that they couldn’t even find in the storage facility.

I have just double checked the order form and the discount is actually 3% which, in Porsche world, is pretty impressive.

I think it will be one of those cars that gets a bit more attention after a year or so when people are shopping used GTS - and when the dealers put them in the right section as well!!!

If you’re in the market and not too fussed about which OPC you use, I would recommend giving Coast to Coast a try.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
45 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Having decided to take the plunge on a Boxster GTS 4.0 I have just called to place my order with my local dealer. He previously advised that delivery would be Q1 or Q2 2022 which was fine by me.
He now tells me that Porsche have sent an update to all dealers saying that they should not expect any further GTS 4.0s until 2023 (with similar guidance for 911s). Orders placed prior to this notification may be honoured.
Has anyone else heard this? Any suggestions as to how to overcome this delay? Are some dealers more likely to have an allocation than others?
It's a first world problem and keeping my 981 GTS longer than expected is no hardship, but 2023 does seem a long way off!
Yes, not surprised by this.
The 718 4.0's are suffering from major supply issues. Not helped as far as I understand it with a faulty batch being produced earlier this year.
992 availability is much better, but you're still talking Q1 2022 possibly Q2.

Most new Porsche are experiencing delays due to well known supply chain issues and any new orders could well be 2023 delivery.
I would be utterly gob smacked if that was the case. I suspect come summer 2022 pretty much everyone will have their car.
My local OPC has been quite honest with me that in the next quarter they are only getting one Boxster and one Cayman, both allocated. They don’t know what they’ll get for the following quarter.
I would not be at all shocked if OPC’s with considerable backlogs are now advising new customers/orders as being likely 2023. The truth is the OPC’s don’t get given long term forecasts of what they’ll be getting.
Also demand is running high for the n/a 4.0 litres, not just in the UK, but the US. With vehicles on back order it is no surprise that 2023 is being touted. The Boxster that I ordered back in January is still awaiting manufacture..
I put a deposit down with my dealer at launch. Waited 20 months and gave up, as did others I know. Dealer received an allocation of 2 some months later… 21 were originally on the waiting list… I live on an island. I have only seen 1 out and about.
My OPC has confirmed delays across a lot of models. They dont think it will mean a deposit placed now will result in a 2023 delivery. I really hope not.

Sorry - please could you clarify your second sentence: are you saying they are suggesting that deposits placed now will result in delivery later than 2023?
I enquired with my local OPC last week about a Cayman GTS 4.0 and a 992 GTS and was told availability on 992 was slightly better and could expect a car in Q1/2 of 2022, the Cayman was in shorter supply and there was a list of several people to be fulfilled. I was still told Q1/2 2022 for a Cayman. A deposit was required for a place in the queue for an allocation. The allocations for the remainder of 2021 were only 1 or 2 cars per month and all spoken for.

I was trying to say, they dont think a deposit placed today will result in the car coming in 2023. The shortage of components is not going to cause such a long delay.
Lots of conflicting opinions on this, safe thing to assume, there is going to be a delay.
I have now spoken with another OPC which is still estimating Q2 2022 delivery and they appeared genuinely shocked with the suggestion that it would be as late as 2023.
I will be paying my deposit tomorrow and keeping my fingers tightly crossed. Quite literally, time will tell…

My old car, ordering another one tomorrow to replace it. I’ve been told 8 months wait today.
Btw the damage was a lot more than the advert makes out…

I approve of your colour choices.
Ordered my Cayman GTS at the beginning of July and was told a February build, March delivery. I was also told that I would get confirmation of this in September when Porsche should confirm my order.

See that all the 718 models except the Spyder and GT4 are now limited availability on the configurator....what does that say??
the way its at the bottom in small print is sort of amusing , lets hide the disappointment
I could have miss read it, but the only one on the website that I can see with an asterisk showing limited availability is the Boxster 25 year edition.

Correct, which as a limited edition is why it's limited availability.

That has been for sale for weeks now, close to a month. That is hasn't been snapped up suggests the price is too over-egged.

Order placed with Porsche East London for Q2 2022 delivery with 2% discount via Coast to Coast Cars. Very happy.
Lets face it, thats a 2% discount which will be recouped AND MORE on your payments...but congrats on your order.

Or the fact that it’s listed as a Boxster S in the approved used search and therefore not as many people are seeing it?

Ah maybe so! That is how I got my R, (albeit a different platform) it was listed wrong and only appeared in AT under the unlisted. That said, I still think it would have gone by now. Those that got an allocation are the max audience, I don't imagine there are others jonesing for one.....and for those that didn't, the buzz has worn off.

I had the same when I bought a Golf R for Mrs S. it had no picture or spec on the VW approved site and turned out to be a pretty-reg that they couldn’t even find in the storage facility. Got a great deal and had pretty much depreciation free motoring for 2.5 years.
Hear what you say about the B25 and don’t disagree. I think it will be one of those cars that gets a bit more attention after a year or so when people are shopping used GTS - and when the dealers put them in the right section as well!!!

I wonder if its because its black and the being that the original was silver it detracts from the anniversary theme. Or as you say could just be overpriced.

That’s great. I’ve used c2c for the other cars and it’s a slick process
That said, when I bought my 4.0 neither dealer would honour the price in the end, admin error apparently, so get your deposit down fast and most importantly, enjoy!!

Thank you - deposit paid and signed agreement received so hopefully I should be covered.

Agreed it just looks all wrong in black. Silver helps the gold accents stand out more, and obviously looks closer to the original Boxster concept.

If I remember rightly, prices aren’t locked until your are at ‘build’, even with signed paperwork, that’s my recollection anyway. Not trying to worry you, just helping to make sure you’re fully locked - well done on a great deal otherwise !!
A few things to add.
First the contract says the price can go up
Secondly in my experience the dealers make promises eg Q1 or Q2 but when you get close it moves
Thirdly they offer incentives then withdraw them saying that offer has been withdrawn just as lockdown (on the car ) gets close
