Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread guys. I need to confirm that the Headlight bulbs are indeed H7s and the Sidelight bulbs are 501s?? Also any1 know where I can get a good quality set of 8000K bulbs and bright LED sidelights. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Bulb specs are in the manual/handbook. H7 (D2S), H6W (AFAIK - check this as it may differ on 996.2) It's under "Practical Tips, Minor Repairs" section. Not sure about bulb spec (8,000k). I know OPC, Design911, PorscheShop, EuroCarParts and GSF can supply the OEM spec (6,500k AFAIK). The 6,500k will actually emit more light, just less blue. Depends whether you want to see or be seen. I bought my (SuperLux) LEDs from Ace Parts, probably do the xenons too.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for that mate!! If they are 6500k from factory then I dont think I'll bother changing them. They just dont seem THAT bright. I've had an Audi and a BMW and they only had 4300K so I assumed the Porker would be the same. I want to SEE MORE rather than be seen.

POST 4Original post

Just checked, OEM is 4,300k 4300k lights closely mimic the temperature of the spectrum of sunlight, so it is less fatiguing on your eyes and is a more natural light than the other temps. it also cuts through rain/snow more and doesnt reflect off of it as much, allowing you to see better in inclement weather. Finally, xenon bulbs get a little bluer with age. it takes about 100 hours (i think) of burn time for xenons to reach their real color. They are all interchangeable and the Philips DS2 model is available in 6,000k too.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I will get some 8000k's then! Reflecting off rain and snow is good...that way i can SEE it!

POST 6Original post

I really think that will be TOOOOOOOOOOOOO blue.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My mates kit is 8000K and it looks ICE WHITE. Do i need a full HID kit or just the bulbs?

POST 8Original post

If you have a Turbo you have litronics. There is a grey metal box on the rear of the unit to drive the xenons. So you just need the bulbs (DS2 design)

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks fella! I've bought the LED side lights i'm just deciding on the D2S's
