Hi, new here and just bought a 2002 C2 Coupe. Absolutely loving the car but , as I do a lot of miles (20000/year), kind of need good music. Last car was a 3.2 audi tt with Bose. A bit dissappointed with the standard cdr22 sound. Grateful for any advice. Who's done what to improve their car stereo.
I have just put a Pioneer AVIC F10BT head unit in mine - absolutely staggered by the difference in sound and it updates the look of the interior by about 10 years!

i've got a pcm in mine and i would rather keep it if poss, i was thinking of adding a genesis amp and some focals front and rear
what amps/ speakers are recommended ?

the standard system has no bass or definition, is that the hu or speakers ?
Another one for Avic, I know there are other units around, but if you can get hold of a brand new F900BT, they are about a third of the original price now they have been superceeded by the 910 (which seems to do almost exactly the same?) for £600 best upgrade out there (and remember if you sell your CDR22, youll get approx £150 back on it !
nice thing about the Avic is its plug and play (almost) so no messing with the porsche wiring loom!
Would you need a pro to install this? My car has the 10 speaker hi-fi upgrade, would that require some wiring to be changed? Finally, would I need to relocate the climate control unit to the bottom of the centre console to free up two slots in the middle? Thanks!
It seemed pretty straight forward and I have the speaker / amp upgrade in mine as well.
I am just waiting on the list of materials from Pioneer for the install and the climate relocation surround comes from Porsche for about £3!
Very easy. You just need the trim surround, which as has been said, is about £3. The unit unplugs from the rear, and the cables are plenty long enough to run them down to the bottom position.
Well I went from single-DIN, so it wasn't exactly plug and play, as I had to cut the mounting cage to fit. Connections are relatively straightforward if your car is not a MOST (fibre optic) model.
Depends what unit you get, and the screen size. The HD1BT I fitted to my C2 didn't need a surround, but the F900BT I have in the Turbo did. It also depends on what system you have now as to what adapter leads you need.
Sorry that sounds vague, but it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type of question without knowing what setup you have.
