Just found out that the Cayman R cannot have these installed by the dealership any more. There is Lawsuit about emissions on chrono packages from 2012 to 2018. So is a cayman R fun without these buttons. I have just sent in full payment for one on Monday, but it has no Sport sport plus buttons, They were going to install them. So do I keep the car without the buttons or get my money back. The seller said he would refund me all my cash. The article you linked doesn't apply to the Cayman R, just the 2013- 2014 Cayman S with Sports Chrono. If the car you are looking at didn't come with the "sport button" you can add that after the fact. Adding the actual "chrono" is much harder.

Looks like the Cayman R is SAFE. It is the other cars from that period , and look at the bottom of this page you will see a list. The CAYMAN S from 2013 and 2014, and 2016. Only the 981 .

No. We have 2 R’s. Peridot green car came from the factory with chrono on the dash and Sport and Sport Plus. I had a local dealer install Sport and Sport Plus buttons and software on the Guards red car. No chrono on the dash, Looks much cleaner to me without the ‘wart’.
