Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I thought the US introduction was to be at the Detroit show. CNET has this: http://news.com.com/2300-11389_3-6019408-1.html Also has a strange story (see highlight) Porsche's newest car, unveiled Wednesday at the Greater LA Auto Show , is the Cayman S, a 295-horsepower, two-seat coupe. The company's R&D director called it a 'bridge between the Boxster roadster and the 911 Carrera.' The car is in production, but doesn't yet have a specified price .

POST 3Original post

i went to the auto show.. I was really excited about seeing the Cayman. But once I got there it was a big and I mean big dissapointment. They had two Caymans, one arctic and one guards red. The arctic was on the spinning platform. It had the boxster s wheels on it which looked/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbs_down.gif.. the wheel gap on the cayman with the 18s is HUGE and I dont know why they showcased that specific cayman, it looked soo cheap and ugly. The guards red had the 19inch sportdesign rims with the beige interior. It looked very nice and there were tons of ppl standing around it. I have no idea why Porsche decided to put the arctic cayman on the platform. The car looked soo cheap and soo un-porsche. I wish they had a few more caymans or a different color than the arctic, preferably one in cobalt blue, basalt black, carrera white, or speed yellow. I'll try to post pics once I get home if you guys want.

POST 4Original post

The outside diameter of the 18's and 19's with tires are relatively the same......so putting 19's on the silver would do nothing for the wheel gap. The biggest influence would be whether the car had PASM or not.

POST 5Original post

Another perceived difference would be that the Silver Cayman was on a raised platform so that the user has a different - read lower angle - from which to view into the wheel well. The Guards Red Cayman was sitting on the floor.

POST 6Original post

I would imagine that this is the one we are talking about?.......I do agree, the Cayman S wheelsdo look a lot better, but other than that it looks fine to me and a fair representation of what a non-PASM ride height looks like......whether with 18's or 19's. A PASM equipped car will be a bitlowerin the front, but from what I have seen there's not much difference in the rear between the two...... <input type="image" height="413" width="550" src="/UserFiles/LAAutoShow039_550x413(1).jpg" /> Edited by - Atlas_Croc on 01/09/2006 10:14:14 AM

POST 8Original post

The new Lambos look ready to go. Can hardly wait to see the drop top models.

POST 9Original post

Oh yeah...Yes, the car looks high in that photo. The direct lighting and the and low angle amplify the already highish ride height. So what. Have you noticed the M5, it's worse. Call H&R. This is a really simple thing to rectify.

What are those white things on the blonde woman's ankles?

POST 13Original post

Than means the middle girl forgot to put on her seatbelts. She's operating seatbeltless, can she get a ticket for that?

POST 14Original post

Don't forget about the Cayman Club meet-up tomorrow (Sunday the 15th) at the LA Auto show!

POST 16Original post

<input type="image" height="413" width="550" src="/UserFiles/LAAutoShow039_550x413(1).jpg" /> That picture from the LA auto show is a Cayman in Carerra GT silver with Cocoa full leather interior. I know because I test drove that exact one after the show ended.

POST 17Original post

The LA Show GT SIlver is at Pacific Porsche now. I had originally ordered GT Silver and was talked out of it by the dealer as not being worththe extra. My car was in for bra install last week and I had a chance to do a side by side with Arctic and GT Silvers. There is a slight difference between the two, the GT is a bit deeper and darker, but the Arctic has a warmer slight titanium tint to it that I think makes the Arctic go better with the Cocoa interior. The last of the reservarions I had about my order have now been put to rest. That being said, if GT was the same price as Arctic, I would have ordered the GT. Do folks call the 18' Boxster wheels on this car baby lobster forks? I cannot believe people would pay more for those wheels than the stock Cayman 18s. JHellow

POST 18Original post

I don't know what they call them but I am not a big fan of them. I think they are trying too hard to look like the 19' carrera S wheels IMHO and they don't pull it off. Why anyone would want these over the stock Cayman 18's is beyond me. My guess is that Porsche has a bunch of these wheels sitting around and is trying to get people to order them by showing them off more. I would rather have the 18' wheels off a 986 series than these from the 987 series, that's why my 987 Boxster S was shod with 19' sport designs, no way I was taking the stock Boxster S wheels.
