Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went for lunch last week with the wife, driving from the heart of the Central Valley of CA, up to Sonora for lunch. It was such a gorgeous day, we continued up after lunch to the summit of Sonora Pass, before turning around and heading home.

POST 2Original post

Went for a bit of a drive yesterday to pick up a friend's Triumph Spitfire that he left in the countryside. Halfway back following him, he starts to run poorly and we pull into an Advance Auto Parts. We narrow it down to battery or alternator, and the car won't crank anymore. Of course they don't have the right size battery, so he hops back in the Boxster with me, and we go down the road for a battery. As soon as we hook up the battery, the alternator starts to smoke. Cue the search for an alternator. We then take the Boxster 40 minutes the opposite direction of home to the nearest store with a Lucas alternator in stock, drive back, install it in the Triumph, hook up the battery, and drive both cars home just in time for dinner. (not sure how to host images, otherwise I'd put some photos here)
