I changed the side markers and here are some pics.

Does anyone know if there are legality issues with replacing amber for clear?

I would try to use both the screwdriver pushing on the spring and pressure.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I changed the side markers and here are some pics. I will say one thing, when popping the lens out I was afraid that I was going to break it, but it just took a pretty good pull to pop it free. The rest was easy.
This is a small plug that I removed so I could get a scxrewdriver in to push on the release spring. I think it would have popped out without doing this.
If I can do it anyone can do it, believe me! Russ
Yes Russk, this is the type of thing that should be posted as an article, maybe I can clean it up and do so as well, that way it is easy to find in the do it yourself article area on mods, this one being cosmetic.
RussK...IMHO actually like the yellow sider markers better in your color. But glad you like the clear ones. Enjoy your car and PLEASE keep those driving reviews and those OH AHH experiences comings ....!!! .....COCO
Those clear side markers look good Russ. While at the dealer having my rims cleaned there was a top-down Speed Yellow 997 Cabrio with clear side markers as well as painted to match sport seat backs and the painted center console. A great opportunity to see what these customizations would look like on my car. Also got to see a 997 with those
20 inch Black TechArt rims
. It's dangerous visiting this dealer on a Saturday morning!
Coco,
I think if you see the car as a whole you can see why the clear look cleaner and more brillant. The photos don't do them justice. The orange markers were the only orange on the car and I felt it just had to be eliminated. Now it has just blue, clear and red on the exterior. The clear markers really sparkle like diamonds.
mpollard, that Techart car is beautifuland there really are more temptations than Ihave money.
Russ
Russ, I purchased the clear as well and am awaiting my car next month to install them. Question - Did you just pop them out, or do you have to push in on the release spring? I have never done it and don't want to mess it up.
Thanks.
mmarantz,
I actually just popped them out. I did stick a small screwdriver in that little hole, but I never could find the spring. It did feel like I was going to break them and then all of a sudden they popped out. I would try to use both the screwdriver pushing on the spring and pressure.
Russ
Our dealer (McKenna) deilveredour Seal Gray Cayman with clear markers already installed. They did that without a word and had it ready for us on delivery day. That is great service!!
Deebs001
deebs001; Saw that Seal Grey and the wife said that was her second favorite color. I too was surprised that dealer does this as part of their PDI (or so Im told).
hvdcman,
We too were surprized that the clear markers came already installed. We really did not know they were available or had thought to change them out. But once we saw them there was no doubt that was the way to go. It's nice to have a pleasant surprise now and then...
