Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I know I would be extremely disappointed if I had my heart set on that option.
Leading evidence: 'Set on' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set on' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry for the empty post but I guess it figures I would screw up! I just came back from picking up my Cayman only I didn't. When we arrived they weren't finished cleaning it so the salesman and I went back to look at it and it looked great except it didn't have PCM!! It is the correct VIN but it wasn't built as ordered. The dealer offered me a nice discount on another car in stock but I didn't care for the options. The next build date they have is in April; I don't know if I can wait until then after coming this close. Now I am going to have a drink!
Ruby
Ruby, it would be tempting to leverage the screw-up into a reduced price and go without PCM. I didn't order it, I wonder if yours will show up on mine/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/teeth_smile.gif
Yeah I'd tell them to deduct the price of the PCM (if it was on there, probably wasn't) and deduct an additional $1K for your trouble and call it good. You can always add PCM later, it is just more expensive to do so.
Ruby,
Shouldn't they offer to add the PCM now at their own expense? If that is the car you want I think you should ask them to make it right and install the missing PCM. Of course they might tell you that it can't be added now without tearing the whole car apart.
Russ
Having local Porsche mechanics tear into a new car to install it seems risky. Normally when you order a new car both the buyer and seller sign off on the order form which includes options. If Ruby did this and the PCM was listed then he is golden. If not then his ability to negotiate is not quite as good. If Porsche messed up the dealer is also golden. In either case I think I'd take the car with a discount and run.
IMO, take the car with a discount... you can not afford to wait a minute longer without the thrill of driving your Cayman... I got a stripper (only metallic paint and floor mats) and don't miss anything... the stock car is loaded and absolutely fine... I always said (in my justification to my wife) that I made a lot more money working when I drove my Boxster to work with that famous Porsche grin... and NOW with the Porsche Cayman grin I should be making money like crazy... so you can't afford to wait !!! You can't put the value of PCM on all that extra $$$ and toothy grin.
Ruby, maybe someone was watching over you! Take the car, minus PCM, with the deep discount and enjoy one of the best handling cars ever made. With the money you save you can update your road maps for a long time.
That's just weird. Did you have a sheet with it listed on the build?
It seems to me like you might be able to get one from another dealer at this point.
Thanks for all of the respones! I have the signed order form including PCM and a copy of the pro forma invoice also showing PCM. Navigation is very important to me for reasons not worth going into here. I rejected the idea of the dealer installing the PCM because I didn't want them tearing up the dash, etc. Maybe I should reconsider that as an option. Does anyone know how big a deal that is? My color combination is Midnoght Blue with the Sand Beige interior. It looks great! My options included the Preferred Package Plus, PCM, Carrera S wheels, auto climate control and TPMS. Also, does anyone know if the standard seats have lumbar support?
Thanks, Ruby
I see a midnight blue listed in Houston, but it is without PCM and has even fewer options than you have. I'm not sure what I would do. Maybe you could talk to their service department and ask more about what would be involved in making the replacement.
A while back my wife and I were looking at Cayennes and most did not have the PCM. I talked to the guys in service about a swap and they said its pretty easy, but Porsche really takes it to you on the aftermarket cost of the PCM. I was quoted about $3800 on the exchange.
You should not face the cost issue. This one should very much be on Porsche. Talk to the fellows in service and see what they say, but this kind of swap should not be that difficult.

We ordered PCM, and it was there and we are learning to maniuplate it, but looking back, the almost $3K could have been saved in our situation. If your condition had applied to us, we would take the discount, remove cost of PCM if on invoice and keep moving. This is a beautiful and enjoyable auto and to postpone the ownership would not have been a problem. But, then, each to his/her own, and if PCM means that much, you might want to think about delaying a purchase, OR working a deal where you can buy this one with correct purchase price applied to a new one when it arrrives. Good Luck.
If it's just navigation, how about an aftermarket like Garmin or TomTom? Ofcourse, I would still try get Porsche to pay for the aftermarket and a hardwire install.
I know I would be extremely disappointed if I had my heart set on that option. I would find out what they could do to put a RED FLAG RUSH on a remake. Will you ever be happy not having it? That is the question, if the answe is no then you wait for the car you ordered.
If it was something small I am sure you wouldn't even question it, but this is a biggy.
FWIW Russ
Yeah, Navi is a very big thing to us. I have considered after-market systems and the dealer even offered to give me one. I am going to explore the PCM dealer install tomorrow though I am concerned about the risk. We are also exploring some sort of rush with Porsche but the dealer didn't sound very optimistic. Thanks, everybody!
