Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Planet-9: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Look what I found. Smells horrible. I wiped everything down that I could but need to replace the carpet. I am trying to get all the carpet out, but this black box is connected and I have no idea how to get it out. It's the only thing holding me back. Any instruction would be appreciated. Also, what is this box? (sorry the pics are sideways. I'm not really sure how to fix that as they are saved correctly on my computer)

POST 2Original post

That is the "carbon canister" for the interior air filter. It looks like you have already released the small connector on top and removed the plastic retainer/holder from the top. On the 987.2 there are two connectors underneath that need to be released by lifting up the whole box slightly and releasing first the small connector then the large one.

POST 3Original post

I just had that box lose in my .1 to replace a part in there. There are some hoses and the EVAP test pump/purge valve inside. Pop the lid off and you will see how everything comes apart. There is some slack in the hoses, but not enough to get the carpet out without cutting it to fit around the hole though the frunk. I used a medium sized pick to pop the clips off. Beware of the o-ring that goes all the way around the lid. It might want to fall out.

POST 4Original post

I have a 987.1. Taking the cover off did not help me access any way to disconnect the hoses underneath. I cannot see well enough to figure out how they are attached. Any tips? Any pics of the bottom of one that is taken off?

POST 5Original post

i eventually got it off. If the windshield is 12:00, the release for the smaller one on the passenger side is at around 7:00 and easy to see with flashlight. Push it in hard with your strongest finger and pull down with your other fingers. You have to do this one first. The release for the other one is at 10:00 so you have to just kind of feel around the back side. Hope they go back on easy once I put in the new carpet. These are very difficult to be able to push the button and pull down at the same time. I probably tried once or twice a a day for over a week.
