Definitely check the power steering fluid, dosent have to be Pen but must be compatible with fluid Porsche uses.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I got my first Porsche, a 2006 Boxster, in really excellent condition in April of 2018, at which time it had 55K on it. I changed the oil and filters, and it now has 63K on it. What kind of maintenance do I need to be doing at this point please ? Also, I am very close to needing
tires
- I was thinking
Michelin
PS 2's on front and read, but was told for the rear that only PS3's are available. Is this right?
Thanks!
Regarding
tires
, you didn't mention the wheel diameter, if it were me I would go with
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
, each version has only improved so why not take advantage of that!
For maintenance these should point you in the right direction...
Check your power steering fluid level. Chances are it's low because it's a PITA to check so people ignore it. Be sure to use Pentosin fluid, NOT your garden variety ps fluid.
Plugs & coils probably need replacing, along with your engine and cabin filters. All of these are relatively easy DIY jobs.
As far as which
tires
to buy, steer clear of PS2s. They are an old technology and they provide a harsh ride. They also take 1/2 lap to warm up if you do any DEs. There are plenty of
tires
available that are better. And there is no PS3.
I'll second the vote for the
Michelin PS4S
. They are awesome street
tires
, offering a much smoother ride than others, but also provide excellent traction and handling. I'm not sure what kind of witchcraft they brew into them, but it works phenomenally.

It's very difficult to say with any certainty. It depends on condition, mileage, geographical area, maintenance history, and a zillion other things. Mine has an MT which made it worth a bit more as there are fewer and fewer of these. I'm in LA which boosted the price, it had relatively low mileage which boosted the price, and a solid documented maintenance history which...well - you get the idea. Figure 16K to 35K, roughly.
Sigh. I wish they fit. As it is, my front
tires
are 205 55 17, and my rear
tires
235 55 17. I am afraid that without new wheels ($$$) the
PS4S
just won't work. thank you for your kind help!
I have a 06 Boxster S now with 143000 kilometres, have had it for approx 7 years and purchased it with approx 70000 kilometres (45000 miles)
Ive delt with most of the issues u will most likely have eventually. Im still on the original coils and see no reason to change them unless theres a problem.
I did change the plugs at approx 100,000 kilometres and they still looked great. I was just concerned that if I left them in to long they may seize.
Definitely check the power steering fluid, dosent have to be Pen but must be compatible with fluid Porsche uses. I found a European formula at Canadiantire and have used it with no issues . U still have low mileage so theres many things u just wont have to deal with yet. Tip: be gentle with closing the doors, many internal parts can and will brake and are a pain and expensive to fix even if u do yourself. Get yourself a spare set of Convertible Top slide rod plastic
ends, they will break and ruin your day.I keep a set in the glove box, not difficult to change.Guy on
Amazon
or eBay sells them separate and a lot less than Porsche and are exact same product. Take off front left wheel and plastic wheel well, very easy to remove. Find the emergency front trunk/hood release cable and add an extension piece of wire and tuck in behind plastic close to wheel with piece of tape so when
battery
goes dead u can quickly pop the hood. There is another way in manual but I dont like it for many reasons I wont get into rite now. Lastly, that motor does not like to be started cold and turned of before warming up and then started again. The lifters can stick and the noise will shock u ,and cant be good for the cams. It may not have happened to u yet and may never but once it happened to me (twice) I quickly learned to either drive the car if started cold till warm or just let idle till warm before shutting down and no more issues in years. If and when it happens u will think u have a rod bering gone bad, its scary loud!! Lots of other stuff but u dont need to know YET!
ps: Forget the PS2 ,they wear out fast and are a stiff ride. I have the Mich Pilot Super Sports and are great!
Welcome to the forum, you give no location and these cars vary drastically in value based on options and mileage as well overall condition so there is no easy answer for your question.
I suggest that you check out the various online car sales systems as well as Porsche themselves. FWIW I had my 06 Boxster the longest of all of them so far and simply had a blast in it!
