I had the opportunity to see,sit in and thoroughly enjoy the new MINI. I'm going to be in the market shortly for a first car for my daughter. This one is a hoot. The interior/dash layout is just a great design. This is supposedly one of the only 2 cars in the US. For pure fun this one is a winner. Perry

I think the new mini is a great car but I also would never buy one because of the size. Seeing an Excursion bumber level with the top of my daughters car would make me too nervous. How about a bright yellow beetle for your daughter. Those are safe and seem to be popular with the younger set.

I was surprised by the size and safety of the MINI. It was much wider and taller than I expected. They have airbags everywhere, including 2 that drop dowm from the roof, totalling 8. Doors are very sunstantial and has required side protection beams.They claim they use the same airbag technology as the Blackhawk helicopters. It is short, though. I would rather have her driving something with agility and handling over some big *** SUV. BTW, the Beetle is so last year <g>. perry

Its good to hear that the mini isn't quite so mini. I just remember the old ones. As far as last year goes... Oh well
