Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

....why cant Top Gear or some organisation run a big media campaign to get people to STAY LEFT!

Far more fun to be had using the car on twisty roads.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My wife and I went to the Bonham's auction at Beaulieu on Saturday in my 1984 Mercedes coupe thinking I might bring back a few bits, anyway never doing more than 85ish I overtook four 996/997 911's a Maserati two Corvettes and about five Jags all in the slow lane doing about 70ish?
Is it just me or are they letting the side down?
The thing is, you can't really give it some beans in a 911 on the motorway because you'll be hitting silly speeds pretty quickly and it's just dangerous. I'll often just sit and chill at 70ish - it's the twisty roads that are more fun!
However, the missus' Clio (1.2 16v, 85bhp) I screw to within in a inch of its life, as it'll struggle to see three figures even with a tail wind so there's more fun to be had and little chance of getting into trouble with the law...
I agree with mgeorgek.
It's all too easy to get kernicked on the Mway and can also be pretty dull.
Also, depending where you were on Saturday I may have been one of the 911's you passed on the motorway...
However, if you were on any of the A roads I drove over the weekend and saw an icey silver Turbo flash past you the chances are I'm guilty as charged...

+1
Once you get to the speeds where you are really having fun, your at risk of loosing the licence.
I agree with Ant, when you want to nail it - wait 'till the time (and roads) are right. The motorways can be pretty boring too if your on them every day....
Agree with the above. The motorway isn't the place for speeding, far too easy to get caught and also kind of pointless (unless it's an Autobahn and you can really get a wriggle on).
Far more fun to be had using the car on twisty roads.
PS There is no "slow" lane! (sorry, pet hate).
The law of averages says you will be done if you drive a long distance constantly well over the limit.I enjoy quite short bursts of a bit of foot down.-joining the motorway, coming out of roadworks etc.As said above A roads are much more fun!
They'd probably all given up hope of making reasonable progress due some idiot driving a crap car sitting in the overtaking lane mile after mile with an empty slow lane....:frustrated:
....why cant Top Gear or some organisation run a big media campaign to get people to STAY LEFT! It would mean we wouldnt actually need to widen every major motorway like we seem to be doing. :thumb:
When I had a daily grunter I would rag it on the motorway... now with the tt i just dont bother.
I soon learnt that when putting the foot down on the M roads it was easy to hit 120 and not even notice it. So I just potter along at 80 and save the fuel for the windy bits that are much more fun.
I guess the faster the car, the less you have to prove?
All very true. I have enough trouble keeping my Hayabusa under the magic 100 without being tempted in the Turbo.
Fast sweeping A roads are my playground. :thumb:
Amen to that. Junction 8 on the clockwise section of the M25 is the classic. Five lanes of traffic with the outside one full of creepers and the two inside ones with a couple of HGVs and nothing in three and four!
Pip :frustrated:
Oh yes I know that one, classic. And as it goes up hill everything grinds to a halt, you pass at 70mph on the far left lane 1 and lane 5 looks at you as though you're nuts :?
Also the stretch from J17 Maple Cross southbound. Now they have 4 lanes to choose from :frustrated:
Dunno about you boys but if I'm on the motorway, it's dry, not windy, and I can see that for the next half mile or so, there are only ***** cars in the slow lane (i.e. no unmarked cops) and no bridges for them to sit on, I love putting my foot down and getting the buzz of a quick proper spurt (so to speak)!
uh:
This is quite an interesting thread, I thought I was the only one to be content with 80ish on the M roads. Glad to see there are a few who are like me.
I do love the sound of the PSE on those B roads and the roads just put a smile on your face.
I agree. My comment is that I don't have to because I can.
My contribution to fast roads is the 'new' A130 between A127 and Chelmsford in South East Essex. If its dry, clear & day time then who can resist it.
