Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone have a paint code or paint type for the aluminum trim in the trunk of the Cayman/Boxster? I have a 2007 Cayman S and trying to paint some scratches on the aluminum trim but having a problem matching the color?

POST 2Original post

In for details on this. Sadly I do not have the code for the silver but I do have the code for the Sand Beige parts , some spots in my trunk and elsewhere chipped so I went to HD for a custom mix.

POST 3Original post

If you have the piece off the car, take it into a supplier for the automotive repair industry (paints, supplies, etc). They should have a device that can read the paint and computer match it. Once they have the paint code, they can make you a touch up pen, bottle, spray can, etc. What you will get a is a blending color, but all the ones I've seen done are a perfect match for the color you bring in. If it's still on the car, call around and see if a shop can bring the reader outside and do it in the parking lot. The last time I used such a service was quite a few years ago and the reader was tied to a computer in the store. Might be more portable now and days.

POST 4Original post

What am I googling? Never been to a supply joint like you describe.

POST 5Original post

What you'll want to do is google "Automotive paint supplies/finishes". Dupont's system to read paint is called "Acquire" and PPG's system is called "Profit 2". Looks like you are on the east coast. One paint supplier out there is called "Finish Masters". Most automotive paint suppliers "should" have one of those systems. If a smaller supplier does not have either of them, try a larger one. Will take a little leg work on your end, but you should be able to find a place. If/when you do get the code, post it up so others can get paint made up as needed.

POST 6Original post

Thanks for the suggestions and yes, if you have a flake of the paint, you can take it into Home Depot and they will match the color on a sample jar for about $5. Didn't want to slice off more paint and I ended up using Testors model car aluminum paint and it covers the scratches very well.
