Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello chaps,
I been looking for a while a good 993 C4s and i found one '96,with 73000Km, really nice, when i found this great 996 C4 '99 at the same price but with 100000Km....It's a very embarrasing choice I know, the style is different, but my choice is going for the 996...,!
Which model could you advice me!?
I'll probably go for the 993 c4s since its special model unlike the c4 996. I'm not against the 996 in any way since i own a 996 coupe and it's a great car. If between say the new 996 c4s vs 993 c4s i'll go for the 996 c4s.If I'm not mistaken, the 993 c4s shares the same supension set up and wider flares like the 993 tt minus rear spoiler so if you're into firmer ride the c4s is the one plus its a special model. Only way like Ben said is test drive them and see for yourself. Regards. Mike
The 996 has a more rigid frame and quite a few more horses. I think the C4S is an outstanding car, but consider that the wider rear end adds wind resistence plus the extra weight of the turbo brakes and panels make it substantially slower. On the other hand it is flashy and more rare than the 996 and you'll also be getting that fabulous air cooled sound. It's all relative to what you want to get out of it. I think you'll be happy either way. Good luck!
Johnny.

Hmmm,,, I dunno about that...
I would not own a 993. The 996 out performs the 993 in every way. Acceleration, braking(although the 993 C4S has turbo brakes), handeling, looks(personal preference), The 996 is a WAY better daily driver than a 993. Some would argue that the 993 is the ultimate 911. They are just hanging on to living in the past...
Good Luck

(coulda had a 993 with less miles than my 996 for same price or less, but.....)
Agree with most
others who have replied.
you need to drive them both and decide which is more in your character.
Love my brother's 996 - very fast and comfortable! Love my wife's Boxster - nothing better on a crisp clear morning. Love the rawness of my 993 - feels like a classic - not concerned with being anything but a sports car.
good luck and happy driving! (w/out p-car prejudice)

As posted above, drive them both. Many would say they are not "cut from the same cloth". You will find supporters in both camps 996/993. I enjoy both the 996 and 993 for different reasons and occassions.

Ease up my friend. As an owner of a 97S and a 02Cab, POC and PCA member, I consider myself a porschephile, although not a gear head. I find your "living in the past" comment a bit over the top.
I like my nuts and bolts, screwed down Porsche as well as my gadget rich snap-together. If you catch up on Porsche manufacturing/outsourcing, you will find that nearly 75% of the product is NOT Porsche made, let alone made/assembled by hand.

I wanted to thank you for your feedback!
...it's clear for me, as i already drove this 2 excellents cars, Really luv it both of them!.The 2 cars, great feelings but quite different, the 993 it's more rough sporty; The 996 very sporty also, but you get more a feeling of security and a driving more accurate(?) (this is my personal view!i'm new with the P-car!!) anyways, i'll get the 996 C4 '99 black coupe..
I'm in heaven the car will be prepared, and inspected by the Swiss service car .
So ready to pick up next week!..YEZ!!
Congrats, Bilstein!
Sounds like you picked the car that fits you the best. As you said, you couldn't have gone wrong with either.
Now we just needs some pics of you enjoying your car by the Swiss Alps!
